Being the first Gary Numan show I've ever experienced, I was a wreck. :) I showed up at the club about 3:00 in the afternoon. About 200 people were in line by 6:30 or so, so I was glad I had gotten my tickets ahead of time.

David Ellison, who was waiting for his pal Lenny, was sweating bullets, as Lenny had his ticket. Well, another brew later, Lenny showed up. Met some very nice people at the show, in all shapes, sizes and colors. The opening band, 'Gwen Mars', wasn't half bad. Never heard of them before, so didn't know what they were singing, but they had good form and sound. They played about 7 or 8 songs (I think), and after my third beer, they finished. Now it was time. Yes, time for the bathroom. :) OK, feeling much 'lighter' now.

Lights dim, I push my way back into the crowd, find David Ellison, and the opening to 'Pure' starts. (I still think the opening he uses live should've been on the cd).... Well, rather than go through what he played and didn't play, as I kinda can't remember every song... Gary was EXCELLENT. Not a lyric missed. The band was tight and right on. Sound quality was wonderful for a small club. Every note and beat was heard. Got me some good pictures, too. All in all, I had a super night. Most of the show, Gemma stood right next to me, which was a treat in itself. (even though I had to ask David who she was when we got our pic taken together..'blushes') Well, she does change her look...:) After the show, of course, I waited patiently for the man himself. Finally the time came, I almost wet myself. Gary sat in the bus signing and greeting. It was my turn..crap. What to say.. I had just been talking with 'The Machman' and told him I had a million things to say...OK..here goes.. "I've been waiting 20 years for this. (shake hands)....It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm David Brezniak...." A smile from Gary and a 'nice to meet you', My current bo then said: "Gary, do you mind if David sits down next to you on the step so I can get a pic?" I almost passed out. Gary twitched his eyebrow, gave a look, and said "Yeah, sure" and smiled. Oh, great...Glad I protected myself this morning with Right Guard. :) I sat down, Aaron got a pic, and Gary signed my autobiography (hardback) and my enhanced Pure cd. I then said: "So, oft to Canada? That's a haul." Gary said: "how far do you think it is?" "Oh, about 8 hours." Gary opened his eyes wide and said "Oh crub" (I think).. I again thanked him for everything, shook his hand, and got up. So much for my million things I wanted to say. It felt like the longest 3 minutes of my life, but they were 3 great minutes. I think everyone who can remember meeting 'Gary' for the first time knows exactly how I felt. Gemma had to get off the bus, so I promised her copies of the pics I took. Gary smiled, I turned around, and we left. So, in a nutshell..the best night of my life...so far. :)
