by Staff Reporter

At least 10 people, including the driver of Jamaat-e-Islami office, were injured when supporters of Islamic Constitutional Movement (ICM) launched an attack on the musallis' near the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque yesterday.

According to witnesses, the ICM supporters were in a procession protesting against the Jamaat for an alleged attempt on life of the ICM chief Maulana Fazlul Karim, Pir of Charmonai, at Sherpur in Bogra on June 7.

The processionists attacked the musallis' when they were coming out of the mosque after offering the Asr' prayers yesterday.

The attackers chanted slogans like "Ekatturer Razakar, Ei Muhurte Bangla Chhar" during the incident, witnesses said, adding that at least 10 people were injured in the attack.

Later, the situation was brought under control after the intervention of police. None was arrested in connection with the incident, police said.

Of the injured, Nur-e-Alam Siddiki (35), driver of the Jamaat-e-Islami office, and Golam Rasul were undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), hospital sources said.
