Glen Weldon Payne was born in either Rockwall, or Royce City, Texas on October 20,1926. He grew up loving gospel music and even attended the famous Stamps-Baxter Singing convemtion in Dallas,Texas as a teen. He sang with numerous groups as a young man,starting with his on family as a teenager, but later including the Stamps-Allstar Quartet,the Stamps-Baxter Quartet,the Stamps-Ozark Quartet and of course, his beloved Cathedral Quartet from 1964 until his death on October 15,1999. He was known for such songs as "Ride That Glory Train","God Himself A Lamb","Cleanse Me"(a duet with George Younce),"Climbing Higher And Higher", "High And Lifted Up",and the song that he may have been most recognized for, "We Shall See Jesus".
