For as long as I can remember watching football I have been a Tom Landry fan. I was probably five or six when I got interested in Dallas Cowboy Football. The main thing that always impressed me and still does is his personal testimony for Christ and the way he wanted the people around him to know about his faith and trust in God. Even in the bad years of Dallas Cowboys football. In 29 years as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys he led them to five Super Bowls, winning twice. He had 20 consecutive winning seasons from 1966 to 1985. A feat that I don't think has been matched since. I don't know for sure. He was the man who a lot of other coaches learned from. The motion offense where the man goes in motion before the snap was his idea. But he is mostly remembered, as a coach at least, for his great defenses. Both as A defensive back for the New York Giants, then as defensive coordinator for a few years until he left New York to go to Dallas after the 1959 season. That is where he was contacted by the new ownership of the Dallas Cowboys. Here are a few links with some more facts and figures and biography information about Coach Landry, and the Dallas Cowboys.
