| Teluk Bahang Titi Kerawang Ride April 7 2001 The KOTRTs had a beach party on this day and the Nuikars were invited to enjoy and also participate in the ride. Most of the KOTRTs and myself brought our family along. I had no intention to ride today as I wanted to spend the afternoon with my family at the beach and help in the preparation of the beach party. However once I arrived at the beach, the guys were already putting me down about not riding. The urge to ride was too great to let up, as I have not ridden for more than a week.I found the others had started after I managed a brief change and set up my trusty Giant Yukon. I was cycling hard to catch up with the others and met ST, Andy ,Lawlee and Richie at the Teluk Bahang Dam.I had to pace myself and confine to hard spinning as I did not know what was in store for me. As usual I was the last person trying to catch up. The ride too Titi Kerawang was a none stop moderate climb. Every time I looked up there was always a climb. I had to manage myself in an assortment of gear combination ranging from 2-7, 2-5, 2-4, 2-1 and sometimes 1-3. This allowed me to go faster. The road was quite winding and after a reaching a downhill section, I found the group waiting for me at the Titi Kerawang picnic area entrance. I complained about the never-ending climb when Su Aun remarked, Climb? Where got climb one?. This remarked almost threw me off my bike! We waited for Richie to arrive but were informed that he retired from the ride, maybe due to health problems. We then started to ride back. There was this first section of the first climb, which will eventually be a downhill ride all the way. Su Aun overtook me here. What an embarrassment. My personal goal nowto beat Su Aun. The downhill was fantastic. I am starting to develop a liking to tarmac down hilling. I changed to 3-8 and started to pedal even though it was downhill. The Theng Kars like Richard, Andy, ST, Alan and Annuars son went pass me like a bullet (exaggeration), And I was placed between the front group and the back group. I enjoyed the DH. When we reached the beach, Richie had already left and we enjoyed the food and the company after shifting the food three times, to escape from the rain. Congratulations KORTs, for organizing such a good beach party and the Nuikars, enjoyed it very much! Lets do it again! I found that Annuar, William and Er Chin can play the guitar well and Sup was a great song blaster. ST, Alan, Gary and I joined in the singing with the occasional howling. The Udang Galah Tomyan and Beehoon was GREEEAAATT! Good food and a great ride! With my family there! What more can I ask for!!!!! |
