| MY FIRST POS MENSUN RIDE 16th MARCH My first thought of joining the ride is when Alan told us that he will be joining the ride in CH and he assured that we can make it too if he can make it (three times in a row). Then came Richard the Theng Kar ask me whether I wanted to give it a try. After reading about all the thrills and story from the previous ride, I was eager to join and enjoy the ride. One week before the ride, everybody started to give us more and more clearer picture of the ride and what to expect. Oh my God!!!!!! We are heading for troubles mannnn. Since everything is in place ,we will give it a try and take on what the ride might offer. We met Alan at Juru at around 8:00am.After some chit chat and cock talking we head to CH.Terry move from my car to accompany Alan along the way so that he wont be bored to death. As usual Richard stay with me. It take us around 5 hour plus to reached Tanah Rata due to the heavy traffic along the way. Before we reach CH, we stop by at Ipoh to have the ever famous Thim Sum. The restaurant was located some where in Taman Belanda,( Alan knows the place) if Im not mistaken. After enjoy the food, continue our journey to CH. We checked in the apartment at around 3:00pm and keep our machine in one of the rooms before taking a nap. But the nap does not last long.So I suggested that we have a short ride to Tanah Rata for sight seeing. After enjoying some of the fresh air we headed back to our apartment to get ready for dinner. On the way back ,we were suppose to do a slow climb and enjoy the view and fresh air. Richard lead the way, and we follow behind. Suddenly, Alan increased the pace by using the 3rd plate and we have to struggle to keep up with him. After the dinner we have a good rest before the ride. Its 6 in the morning and we are up and get ready for the ride .We proceed to the meeting point at Habu and set up our machines. The turn out is really good as we have around 30 plus rider excluding family members who were there to flag off the ride. After some important briefing we headed to the trail head. It was easy tarmac at first ride up to the Boh tea plantation. But it turn out to be a hell of climb due to the cold weather. We are unable to warm up our muscles. After some struggles, everybody reached the top of Boh tea plantation and stop for some rest. Some proceed to have some tea on the top. Then the ride resume and this the downhill that they are talking about,20km of downhill .Everybody just zoom down the trail and some even tried to out do each other during the downhill. We just take our sweet time to enjoy the fantastic scenery and some Kodak moment. We passed thru the tea plantation and after some downhill on the cemented track we hit the off road. The off road downhill was awesome with some technical downhill. Here a few riders crash but no serious injuries. So upon seeing the crashes we take some precautions and go slow. After the downhill, we stop for our lunch break at orang asli village. This is the time everybody had a good rest and some tried to re adjust their machine for the Everest climb. Time up!!!! Its time for the killer climb. We proceed to the foot hill of the Everest climb with slow and steady pace. I was wondering how steep it could be. Suddenly I saw everybody started to get down from their machine and started pushing. God the climb was really a killer. So I made up my mind to push rather than torturing my self and get stuck in the middle of the ride. The pushing part seems never ending. One hill after another plus the hot sun on top of us. Some macho riders tried to conquer the climb but couldnt complete. We have to stop a few times along the way until we reach the top. What a relief when we reach the top of the climb. Then the trail start to be more friendly. After some rest we proceed with the ride, climb after climbs but we mange to pull it thru. Then came one part of the trail full with mud. Everyone tried their best to pull it thru but stuck in the middle. So I tried my luck on the left side of the trail where it looks dry. But luck was not on my side. I got stuck in the knee deep mud and had worse time to free myself from the mud. The I realized that my foots getting heavier by the mud. After some times removing the mud from the shoes we proceed to Bertam town. The trail really took a toll on me as I finished all my water supply just before the end of the off road. Then if was road ride all the way to the starting point. We were so exhausted and we stop at the town to have some food and to top up our water supply. The road ride was not as easy as I think with some steep climbs. Maybe because we were too exhausted during the off road ride.I was so relief when I saw the road sign of Habu where we started that morning. I tried to increased my pace to reach the starting point as soon as possible. At last we completed the ride in one piece and only some minor cuts. We are really happy and enjoy the ride even we were cursing during the pushing session. This is my first time and will definitely come again if the road from Tapah to Tanah Rata improved. Maybe they should have some short cut drive.Ill make a come back |
