Pencam Camera under Linux

My Pencam from Aiptek. Cost $US30 2003


Open a Shell and execute SU (super user)

From root, disable module

rmmod stv680

run gtkam (www.gphoto.org)

The first time Select, Camera, Add, AEG Snap 300

Click OK

Click on the Camera and the photos should appear

Select All or Select some of the pics

Save, Photos, Selected to a folder

Edit and rename as .jpg etc. in Gimp or similar graphics program


That's it.


At right is the first photos I took and saved on Linux using my Pencam from Aiptek.

Yippeee! Only my Modem to go!


It does get easier!!!


I did try to install the Pencam Driver I found online but it would not compile, but then I stumbled across this solution!
