Childhood Hauntings

I can still feel you,
Taste you,
Hear you.
A simple breeze can remind me of what I've lost,
Of the people I lost.

Wherever there's an open window,
You're there.
Whenever I can taste you again,
You haunt me.
Never will I escape you.

So many years among you,
So quickly it was lost.
In one night a world passed before my eyes,
Leaving me the way I am,
Changed forever in your eyes.

I never thought I'd see you again,
And when I touched you,
A spark of me returned.
Days pass and I can still feel you,
I can feel me becoming what I once was.

As long as I am here,
You will be.
Forever has it been,
Forever it shall be.
