Storyline

It is the night before the wedding and Garry is having his stag do in the Vic and Lynne is having her hen night in the new Indian restaurant. Lynne regrets that her mum can't be there. Kat is very protective of Zoe again.

In the Vic, Garry is getting drunk and giving his rendition of My Way.

Peggy is excited at meeting the missing Slater sister. "What is she like?" Natalie asks.

"Different" says Lynne after a pause.

Back at the Vic, Harry reminisces with Charlie about how many women they used to pull in the old days.

Charlie gives Garry a test. - He draws a button on a beer mat- "There is a button, if you press it Lynne would disappear." He tells him. "Would you press the button?"

Back at the restaurant, the girls a telling jokes. "How many men does it take to change a light bulb," asks Kat.” One. He holds the bulb and waits for the world to revolve around him."

Then Belinda turns up. "Is this a private party or can anyone join in?" CLIP

Belinda is quite snobby and describes everything as 'Phenom!"

"So how is Garry?"

"Just the same." Lynne replies

"Oh well never mind. Better than being left on the shelf"

Bel is winding Kat up, with her airs and graces. Kat decides to try and get her drunk.

Zoe finds out

In the Vic, Garry has booked his own stripper, and tries to get off with her. "Do us a favour," she tells him. "Wish your new wife good luck. I think she is going to need it."

Back at the restaurant, Bel is now drunk and her blonde wig has slipped. "Sort your hair out you dozy cow." Lynne says. She then rips her wig off, during a chorus of laughter. "I bought the wig because I found my husband drooling over baby spice,” she tells them. "But it made me look like Mrs. Thatcher."

"Did it turn him off?"

"No he really liked it." Bel continues. "But after that I didn’t feel up to it."

The ladies then play spin the bottle and have to tell each other some secrets.

Zoe decides to tell everyone that she is leaving to go to Minorca with Harry. Kat hits the roof and orders Zoe not to go. Zoe storms off and Kat follows. After a row, Kat tells Zoe she is her mother. CLIP

Tuesday 2nd October

Kat tells all

"What did you say?"

Kat tries to deny she said anything as she enters the house, but Zoe won't let it lie.

"Kat please just tell me the truth," Zoe asks as Kat cries.” Is it true?” Kat nods.

"You're a liar." Screams Zoe and storms into her room.

Kat tells Zoe that she was 13, and four months gone before she new she was pregnant. She even tried to run away. "The worst part was the look on dads face,” Kat tells her. "He said he was disappointed in me. He hated me and it wasn't my fault."

"Did you want to have me?”

"I didn’t have a choice. Nan said I was too far gone to have an abortion."

Zoe is upset.” If it weren’t too late would you have wanted to keep me then?"

"I don’t know? You were just a thing growing inside me."

"A thing?" Zoe asked how it happened. "Were you raped?"

"Have you ever been scared Zoe?" Kat grabs Zoe by the throat." Have you ever seen anything so horrible all you can do is turn your head and pretend it wasn't happening?"

The Father

The argument continues and Zoe runs out. Kat then goes to her again. "But things changed and I have loved you more than anything else in this world." She continues. "I even wanted to keep you. You were the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen."

Zoe then asks who her dad is. " I can't remember,” Kat lies.

"Would you help me find him?” Zoë asks.

"One day," Kat replies

"I need time to think" Zoe says. "Good job I'm going away to Spain."

"You're not going to Spain and that’s the end of it."

"I’m old enough to do what I want>"

"You’re not going not with him."

"What Harry?"
"It wasn’t my fault?

"What?"

"I wanted to tell dad. But I couldn’t," Kat cries. "Because it was his brother."

Thursday 4th

Charlie finds out

Kat tells Zoe that Harry abused her when she was young. She says that she told her mum Viv but she has accused her of imagining things. Zoe goes to walk out of the house but Kat drags her back, but they are spotted fighting by Beppe. Beppe tells Charlie and he goes to see what’s happening

"What the hell's going on?" Charlie asks.

Charlie is furious that Kat has told Zoe, but Zoe tells Charlie who her real dad is. Kat runs off to her room.

Charlie cannot believe what he has heard, and asks Kat if it's true. When she admits it, he goes to the pub and knocks Harry out. "The next time I see you, I'll kill you,” he warns.

Charlie then goes to comfort Zoe. "I'm your dad,” he tells her. "And nothings going to change that."

Garry goes to tell the Lynne what has happened.

Kat tells Charlie how things happened. She tells him that Viv knew. Charlie doesn't believe that Viv would have done nothing- not even telling him. "We've all got to be strong for Zoe."

"What about me," Lat asks.

"She's just a kid."

"And I was thirteen."

"What he did was wrong."

"I don't want you to says it was wrong. All I wanted is for you to cuddle me and love me,” Kat says. "But you didn't. It's not too late dad, you could give me a cuddle now," Kat pleads with him. But instead he leaves her.

Kat's Overdose

Charlie tells the family everything and Little Mo is upset that she wasn't told about Kat and Zoe.

Harry comes over to speak to Charlie. "Kat told you," he guesses. Charlie orders Harry to leave the country, and Harry asks Charlie to write Peggy a letter. When Harry goes to shake his hand, Charlie spits in his face. "Did Viv know?" Charlie asks. Harry nods, "She warned me off."

Kat finds some tablets in the bathroom.

The family are comforting Zoe, and Kat overhears them. She spots a bottle of whisky in the hall, takes it and leaves the house.

Outside she sees Harry. " You can't hurt me anymore." She tells him. "You can't make me believe it was all my fault." Kat tells him that Zoe is his daughter. "You Bitch!!" He spits.

She goes to the play- park and tries to commit suicide by overdosing and slashing her wrists. Zoe finds her.

Friday 5th October.

At the hospital

Charlie tells Zoe to phone for an ambulance. When the others hear the ambulance, they rush to see what has happened. The ambulance takes her to Walford General, but she is already unconscious. Big Mo goes to tell Belinda what has happened. Charlie asks Lynne what she would like to do about the wedding. She decides to postpone it.

In the pub Garry tells Phil that he didn’t press the button! Charlie enters and tells Garry hat Kat is in hospital and that Lynne has decided to cancel the wedding. Garry has to phone the guests to tell them not to come.

Zoe feels guilty about what happened to Kat. "It will never be how it was," Zoe mourns and walks out of the hospital.

Charlie writes a letter to Peggy, who reads it and believes she has been dumped again.

Kat goes into cardiac arrest, and while the house doctor tries to revive her, Kat has some flashbacks of her life as a child. At her bedside, Charlie tells her how sorry he is, and that he will never let her down again. Kat comes round

Zoe packs her bag and leaves the square

Monday 8th October

Covering up

Peggy tries desperately to contact Harry, but to no avail. Anthony tells Little Mo he didn’t expect her to work today. She prefers to be there because she's upset that her family don’t seem to trust her. Garry arrives at the Slaters’. Lynne pretends that Zoe is just visiting a friend, and they continue claiming that Kat's just ill with appendicitis. Since he’s already paid for it, Garry tries to persuade Lynne to still go on the honeymoon. She just tells him to return all the presents and get rid of the dress. Phil comes in and blames Harry’s departure on Charlie’s crush on Peggy. Charlie takes the easy way out and agrees, saying he asked Harry to choose between them. Charlie gets depressed that he has failed to protect his children. The Slaters decide to go to the Vic to keep up the appearance of normality. The Slaters return home. Little Mo tries to comfort her dad, but is shrugged off. Charlie sits alone in the kitchen and breaks down.

Tuesday 9th

Pawning the presents
Patrick invites Garry to join in a poker game that evening. He pawns his wedding presents to Paul, planning to buy them back with his winnings the next day. At the hospital, Kat comes round. Lynne tells her that they cancelled the wedding and they all pretend that Zoe couldn’t come because she had an interview. Charlie tries to apologise to Kat for all that’s passed. He holds her hand and begs her to forgive him, but she just snatches her hand away from him.

Thursday 11th

Zoe is missing
Little Mo tries to track Zoe down by calling hostels but she has no success. Little Mo wants to report Zoe missing to the police but Charlie and Mo totally disagree. They don’t want the whole Square finding out what happened to Kat. Lynne realises that Paul is selling their honeymoon gifts. She storms into the Vic and throws one of the presents at him. Little Mo goes against her father’s wishes and tells the police about Zoe going missing. Charlie tells the police that the family had a row. He doesn’t admit the real reason why Zoe ran off. Little Mo doesn’t give in with the truth either. Charlie shouts at Little Mo for telling the police. Charlie apologises to Little Mo for shouting at her

Friday 12th

Charlie confesses
Little Mo has bought replacement fish for Billy. She asks Lynne about visiting their mother’s grave on her anniversary, but Lynne’s not sure. Little Mo arrives with the fish, but Billy realises they're not his. He shouts at her and she leaves crying. Garry tracks down his wedding presents. Charlie’s too upset to visit Viv’s grave. Mo says she knows a man who could teach Harry a lesson. Charlie’s totally against this idea. Trevor’s angry with Little Mo for not telling him about Zoe. Mark lends Garry money to buy his presents back from Paul. He mentions about Zoe going missing but Garry had no idea about it. Little Mo talks about her mum with Charlie and Lynne. She remembers how Viv used to call them her special girls. Charlie gets upset and leaves. Charlie’s angry with his wife for hiding their dirty secret about Harry. He cries as he shouts at Little Mo to visit Viv’s grave alone. Garry mentions to Trevor about Little Mo visiting the cemetery. Trevor turns up at the cemetery to comfort Little Mo. He tells her she doesn’t need family when she’s got him. He looks steely eyed. Charlie breaks down as he tells the police the truth about Zoe. He pleads with them to find Harry, otherwise he’ll kill him with his bare hands

Monday 15th

Trevor is concerned
Trevor asks Little Mo why Zoe ran away. He thinks the Slaters are keeping things from him. He says he wants to know the truth. The police visit the Slater house. Little Mo says that she and Trevor should be told the truth. Charlie says he has told them about Harry.

Tuesday 16th

Trevor is suspicious
Trevor questions Little Mo about a phone call at the B&B. He suspects that the family are trying to keep them out of the picture.

Thursday 18th

Mysterious calls
Trevor's bought some flowers to take to Kat in hospital. Little Mo puts him off, saying that Kat can't have visitors. Trevor's suspicious.
Lynne is worried that Little Mo has told Trevor about Harry. Later, Trevor lies and tells Lynne that Little Mo has explained everything to him. Zoe has been making mysterious calls to the B&B. She can never talk to Little Mo for long because Trevor is always hovering in the background.

Friday 19th

Little mo quits her job
Trevor catches Little Mo rushing to the phone every time it rings. He questions her about Zoe again, but she denies knowing anything. Charlie asks Sharon if he can have a word with Peggy. Sharon refuses. Meanwhile Trevor warns Little Mo that they'll 'talk' tonight. Zoe finally calls. Little Mo is relieved but Patrick interrupts the call. She screams at him to stuff his job and tells Zoe to come home. Trevor goes mad at Little Mo for resigning.

Monday 22nd October

Zoe is found

Little Mo arranges to meet Zoe. She lies to Trevor and tells him that she's going to meet an old schoolfriend.

Little Mo bumps into Pauline. She confides in her that the 'friend' that she's spoken about is Zoe. Pauline promises she'll keep quiet.

Little Mo meets Zoe in a cafe. Zoe looks run down. She's suicidal and blames herself for Kat's overdose. Little Mo tells her that Kat is alive.

Lynne counsels Beppe following his experience with Chris.

Little Mo tells Zoe that what's happened doesn't change anything. Zoe gets angry and asks her to hand over the money she's brought.Zoe threatens Little Mo - if she breathes a word of her whereabouts to anybody she'll stop calling and disappear without trace.
