Where's the birth certificate?
|
Monday 1st January
Mo is annoyed at the mess the youngsters have made at their party and she has made them all clean up, including washing the clothes they 'borrowed'. And even though the family are still worried about Little mo, they are accepting she is fine, after her phone call from Clacton.
Tuesday 2nd January
Zoe is put in charge of the stall as Mark visits Nick Cotton in hospital, following the accident on the bridge. "Do you think he's going to be alright?" Zoe asks. "It's a fair old drop." "Let's hope so," Mark replies. Thursday 4th January
At Mark's place, Garry has spent the night with his latest conquest, and is trying to sneak her out of the house when Mark catches them. "You're living dangerous," Mark tells him. "She was stranded. I let her sleep over," Garry explains. "It's all part of the service." As soon as she has left, the doorbell goes. "Don't tell me you've forgotten your knickers," Garry laughs as he opens the door. He is shocked to see Lynne standing there. "Who was that girl?" Lynne asks. Garry thinks fast on his feet. "If you're that interested," he says, "ask Mark." Mark is stunned for a while. "Oh she is just someone I met," he lies. Garry is relieved. "Well come on then, I'll let you buy me breakfast," Garry tells Lynne. "You know, the racket those two were making last night, I never got a wink of sleep."
Outside, Amelia flags down a cab, which just happens to be Charlie's! As they pause outside the cafe, Charlie notices Garry and Lynne hugging. "Look at that," he says. "love's young dream." 'He told me he was single," says Amelia. Garry smiles and waves at Charlie, but his face falls when he sees the passenger. "Do you know that bloke?" asks Charlie, suspiciously. "I feel sick."
Later on in the garage, Garry has a visitor - Charlie. "Charlie. What brings you round here?" asks Garry, nervously. "Just a little thing really. You see I had this girl in the back of my cab." "Lucky you." "No, not so lucky. She sicked on my vinyl. You can go and clear it up." "Me? I don't do valet." "You do now, son. Now you've got two choices. One, you tell me what's going on with this girl, or two, I make my mind up and drop this car on you." "It's nothing to do with me. She's Mark's bird." "YOU'RE PIZZA!" Charlie says, and gets ready to release the jack which is holding the car. Garry then continues with a story about her being Mark's pick up and how he gallantly let her have his bed, whilst he slept in the bath. "If you're lying, I'll have you!" threatens Charlie. "I would never lie to Lynne. She's everything to me. What's more to the point, I would never lie to you, neither." "You'd better not. Now get out there and clean my cab!"
Later on, Garry gives Lynne a bunch of flowers. "What you been up to?" asks Lynne. "You know your trouble," Garry tells her. "You have such a suspicious mind." Monday 8th January
Lynne tries to contact Maureen at home but no one is replying. This worries her as she should've been home from Clacton by now. Kerry booked a weeks holiday for her and Zoe and got round Eddie by telling him that Charlie was going with them. It is only up to Zoe to get the all clear from Charlie. Tuesday 9th January
Zoe is nervous about asking Charlie permission to go on holiday. "Zoe, you can wrap your dad around your little finger," says Kerry. "All you've got to say is that my dad is coming with us." Lynne and Kat are worried about Maureen as Lynne has tried phoning several times with no reply. "There could be a million reasons," says Kat trying to comfort her. "She could have gone out, or had Chris de Burgh on so loud she didn't hear the phone ring." But Kat isn't convinced either.
Where's the birth certificate? Charlie says no to Zoe's holiday to Tenerife, until Zoe lies and tells him the Eddie was going. There is one problem - she needs her birth certificate, and when Zoe mentions this in the pub, Kat's face drops!
"What do you want to go to Tenerife for? there are plenty of places here you can go to," says Kat squirming. Charlie then says, "You just fill in the forms, let me have them and I will sort all that out."
Thursday 11th January
Lynne and Kat borrow a van and stake out Maureen's house hoping to see her.
Eventually, when they see her, they find that she has another bruise on her face. "it's not how it looks," Maureen tells them. "That's it. Come on. You're coming home with us." Kat orders, and tries to take hold of her. "No," yells Maureen. "Who do you think you are. This is none of your business." "Course it is. You're our sister," Kat tells her. "You're checking up on me when I never asked you to." "After what Trevor did to you at Christmas, we've every right," Lynne says. "Trevor is my husband." Maureen says, adamantly. "Mine! And whatever happens in there is my business. You got that?!" even though her sisters plead with her to come home. "If you want to help me, go home!" Maureen tells them and enters the house. The sisters are unhappy, but they do as she asks and leave her.
Later on in the pub Kat ad Lynne are talking about Maureen and her bruise. "If we hadn't have gone round there, we'd have never had known about her eye. She would have kept that secret. It ain't right!" says Kat "And there's nothing you want to keep hidden?" Asks Lynne, knowingly. Kat glares at her. "Not like that, I don't ." Monday 15th January
In the Slater household, the family are discussing what to do about Little Mo. "It's like she's determined to do the wrong thing," Charlie says "Maybe there's something gone wrong with her head," Mo comments. "You know like them girls who fall in love with the blokes that kidnap them." "That's what we should do, kidnap her," Kat pipes up. "Go round there when Trev's away and literally bung Little Mo in the van." "They'll be taking her out in a coffin Charlie," Mo continues. "If things carry on the way they are. "You think I don't know that." Charlie then leaves for work and notices Kat looking at the paper. "Any jobs?" he asks her, sarcastically, but Kat is looking at the lonely hearts page. "It's about time she pulled her weight around here," says Mo to herself. Later on Mo gives the paper to Lynne and asks her to find a job for Kat, whilst Charlie can't get to work because Barry has blocked off his taxi with his own mini-cab. Barry has had trouble servicing his cabs and gives the contract to Garry.
Back at home, Mo, Lynne and Zoe are looking at the paper for jobs that Kat can do "Even if we get her all these interviews, how are we going to get her to turn up?" Lynne asks. "Leave that to me," Mo tells her. "Look at this one," laughs Zoe. "Artist model required to sit. She could spend all day on her backside and get paid for it." "It's big enough, that's for sure," Lynne continues, laughing. When Kat walks in, she can't work out what everyone is laughing at. When Charlie comes home, he tells Zoe that he needs to confirm details with Eddie. Zoe panics and tells him not to bother as Eddie is ill. Charlie concedes.
Garry comes home and tells everyone that he has extra work from Barry, which will mean more money. Lynne is pleased. 'That means we can start saving for our own place." "That's a good idea," Mo says, looking at Garry, who is looking worried Mo then tells Kat that she expects housekeeping from her. "Twenty quid a week or else your sleeping in the cab." Tuesday 16th January
Charlie is having more trouble with Evans cabs as one of the cabs nearly knocks him off the road. Zoe is panicking as Charlie and Eddie keep bumping into each other, but Kerry is more interested in flirting with the new market lad. Dr. Trueman is late for the surgery and Mo is annoyed when Audrey, his mother, gets to see him first. Mo bursts into the office, "I've just checked with Bubbles out there and I was before you," she yells. "It's bad enough being kept waiting there for hours because the doctor doesn't show up. We don' need his relatives getting special treatment on top!"
Barry puts more work Garry's way, but Zoe suggests to Jamie that he should tell Phil that he has been moonlighting. Charlie gives Pauline a hand with her shopping and they chat about Sonia's baby. "Can you imagine your child being brought up by complete strangers?" she asks him. In the cafe, Lynne tells Kat that they have lined up four job interviews for her. "You've got a job interview tomorrow at the launderette," she tells her, enjoying the horrified looks. "And at the Minute Mart, and the doctors and the flower store in the high street." She also tells her that if she doesn't get a job, then its plan B - She will work as a skivvy for the family doing the shopping, cleaning and cooking. Meanwhile, Robbie asks mo to find him a cheap engagement ring for Kerry, as he thinks this will stop her from playing the field on holiday.
Thursday 18th January
Outside the cafe Lynne overhears that Barry needs a cab-controller, she lines Kat up with another interview. Mo is having trouble with some dodgy Camcorders but Billy offers to supply her with some, and Jamie is worried about Garry moonlighting at the garage
At the Portacabin, Kat convinces Barry that she would be no good as she is 'slightly dyslexic-never been very good at writing things down', 'never been very good at technical things', and 'if she is on the phone for more than ten minutes, she gets a splitting headache'. When Lynne asks Barry how she got on, he tells her, "Your sister is allergic to life." "Allergic to work, more like," she replies.
Kat then goes for an interview at the Launderette because Pauline wants to lighten her work-load so she can concentrate on bringing up Chloe. Kat tells her she's not very good at working in the mornings or the evenings. "It's only work," she says. "You don't want it to get in the way." "Of what?" asks Pauline. "Life. Fun. Enjoying yourself." Kat replies. "you'd need it as well after a few hours in here." The doctor enters and Kat's eyes light up. She remind him that she has an interview with him. "I'm not taking just anything." She tells him. "Certainly not before you've checked me out!"
At the surgery, Kat cannot help flirting with Tony Trueman, the doctor. She isn't at all interested in the job. "How old are you?" she asks him. "Old enough." "Old enough to know the difference between a good girl and a nice girl?" "And which one are you?" "If you're old enough to know, you'll know!" Kat replies, smiling. Tony seems impressed by her, but not as a possible employee.
When Mo finds out that Kat hasn't got a job after five interviews, she convinces Lynne to try her out for the cafe. After a short interview Lynne is frustrated. "There's no way she's getting a job, Nan," Lynne says. "She's worse than Janine!"
Monday 22nd January
In the pub Mo is arranging with Billy to get Zoe a hi-fi for her forthcoming birthday. When Kat walks over Mo tells Billy, "She takes after me, that one. I was the spit of her when I was younger." "Yeah," Billy lies. "I can see the resemblance." Kat continued to flirt with Tony and Robbie pesters Mo for the engagement ring he wants. In the cafe, Lynne pushes Janine around - literally, which makes Janine quit her job.
Lynne then tries to take the chip fat over to Ian's chip shop, but he refuses to take it. Lynne then goes to tell Phil in the pub but he is not interested. "I'm only telling you," she moans "I heard you." Phil replies, disinterested. Lynne sighs.
Tuesday 23rd January
Zoe is worried about her passport as Charlie doesn't seem to have done anything about it. Mo tells her not to worry. "If he says he'll do it, he'll do it," she tells her. Zoe then asks if she could have a party for her 17th birthday but is worried what Charlie will say. "You'll do what you always do," replies Mo. "Wrap him round your little finger!" Garry is still moonlighting for Barry but Jamie warns him that he will tell Phil. At the Slaters Kat is now cleaning for the family. "This house is disgusting," she complains. "You won't believe what I found under those beds." As Kat storms out, she bumps into the doctor who is flattered and intrigued by her attention.
Mo has managed to get an engagement ring for Robbie. "You sure it's a real diamond?" he asks. "As good as," Mo replies. "I wouldn't charge you thirty quid for any old rubbish." Later on Zoe suggests that Lynne gives Kerry a job in the cafe and Kat buys Tony a drink. "That girls got trouble written all over her," Warns Audrey, his mum. "Yeah," replies Tony, smiling. Thursday 25th January
(No storyline involving the Slater family) Monday 29th January
Charlie managed to get Zoe's birth certificate and sort out her passport details.
Mo and the girls are preparing for Zoe's 17th birthday party and Maureen makes an appearance to bake her a cake. Lynne lets slip that Kat is actually 31 and not 29, as Kat would like everyone to believe. Kat watches Zoe from afar, and is hurt that Charlie says she doesn't care about Zoe's birthday Robbie proposes to Kerry, who accepts and she gets him to phone Charlie up pretending to be Eddie, this gives Zoe the green light for the holiday. Tuesday 30th January
The feud between Charlie and Barry heats up as Barry seemingly let down Charlie's tyres and parked a broken-down cab in front of his house. Kat decides that she wants to buy Zoe a proper present and asks Charlie for some money. He laughs at her and tells her to get a job. When Kat decides she wants to look for work, no-one takes her seriously, which upsets her.
