Kotomi is a Japanese television/video producer who is a approaching middle-age. She is unmarried and is conservative in both lifestyle and dress. She is a owner and manager of the Enohana Bathhouse, serving as a sort of mother to the misfits who live and work there. While the bathhouse was a failing business when she purchased it, she believes that she and her staff will be able to make it profitable again, and she is constantly pushing them to assist in devising schemes and improvements to bring in new customers. She is generally calm and level-headed, but her temper flares when she perceives a challenge to her business or her authority. She has a friendly relationship with Mayuko, often giving her sage advice and inquiring about the progress of her studies. It is possible that Kotomi sees something of herself in Mayuko, as she too lived in Enohana during her student days.
