Equipment: short sword, hand crossbow with 10 bolts, chain shirt, several pieces of parchment, lots of chalk, quill, ink, ball of string, various bits
of wood and metal, belt pouch with a small amount of money (varies in exact amount).

Appearance: stan is a runt. He doesn't even top five feet tall. His is dirty and ugly, with olive green skin, black hair, one brown eye, and one yellow eye. He wears a chain shirt and the accompanying helmet, both of which are way too big for him. He carries a short sword, but is completely inept in its use, and usually just ends up hurting himself with it. He's also got a hand crossbow, but he doesn't really know how to use it either. He'd carry a light crossbow, but he isn't strong enough to load one.

Background and Personality: stan was always a runt, but he was a smart runt. This was the only reason he wasn't left in the woods to die. In an effort to make himself useful, stan learned about humans, then took himself into a large city that the orcs sometimes raided. He was stopped at the gates, but after watching him flail about ineptly for a while with his little sword, the guards let him in, sure he was no threat and even feeling a little sorry for him. Upon entering the city, stan decided he needed a human sounding name, and dropped his orcish name in favor of stan, which he never capitalizes.

stan managed to fit into the city without much trouble, and even found a job with an old scribe, who also did a little shady work on the side. He taught stan something about his trade and dealings, and now stan is his loyal assistant. Also in the city, stan met a group of gnomes who he took a shine to.

He liked them for two reasons. One, he was actually bigger than them, and two, they shared his interest in machines and science. Now stan divides his time between helping his boss, traveling back to his tribe to bring them money and information, and working with the gnomes on all sorts of gadgets.

stan's personality alters depending on where he's at.
When he's with his orc tribe he is very meek, knowing that his size makes him a target. He only speaks when spoken to, and otherwise just stays out of the way. When he's working in the city he tries to act tough and scary but usually just comes across as being funny. Still, people try not to laugh in his face because they know it upsets him to no end. When stan is with his gnomish pals he acts much like they do, excitable and curious. This is his true personality, but he only lets it come out when with the gnomes.
