Mechanoid Slayers
This para-military, psuedo-religious group is devoted to the destruction
of all androids and artificial intelligences. Led by the charismatic mystic
Daya Droidbane, they recognize the value of technology in galactic society,
but they believe machines that mimic sentience dangerously blur the line
between living beings and their technologial creations. They target droids,
leading droid designers, cutting-edge computer software design firms, and
droid manufacturing plants for destruction.
The statistices for these characters were created with the D20 Star
Wars Roleplaying Game. They do not have any connection to LFL's Star
Wars property, but are actually culled from the same setting as "Trail
of the Starkiller." (The "Force" powers are actually psionic abilities.)

Background and Personality Notes: Daya was born on Kalitarn,
a world owned by one of the galactic mega-corps. When the workers/residents
attempted to mount a strike in order to gain more access to the goods they
manufactured and safer working conditions, the corporation unleashed hoards
of unrestrained battle droids on the populace, slaughtering them by the
tens of thousands. Among the dead were Daya's parents, older brother, and
twin sister. Daya barely escaped alive herself, and at the tender age of
11, she was left alone to fend for herself.
Needless to say, Daya was driven both by the need to survive
and a deep hatred for the corporation that owned her homeworld and the
droids that had killed her family. She may well have been consumed by her
own hatred and the harsh life on the streets if not for two factors: First,
Daya's natural leadership abilities soon led her to gather a group of other
orphans around her, and they protected one another. Second, she came to
the attention of Kahlon Hul, a master of little-known school of "alien
magic." He sensed in her the potential to pass along the arcane knowledge
he possessed.
As Daya's mastery of the alien practices grew, and she gained
status and power in the underworld of her homeworld, she gradually became
obsessed with avenging the destruction of her family. This initially took
the form of an uprising on her homeworld that freed it from the corporate
shackles and led to the destruction of every android and highly advanced
computer on the planet. She was 21 when she achieved this goal.
Although Daya did not assume the reigns of power on her world,
she now had access to a galactic perspective. Upon studying the conditions
throughout Settled Sapce, she came to decide that the real problem wasn't
the leaders of the mega-corporations but rather the machinery they surrounded
themselves with. The true enemy was technology that removed the
need to interact with "little people," and, worse, technology that She
soon broadened the scope of her crusade. Taking the name "Droidbane," she
started to aspouse a philosophy that held "self-aware" technology as being
inherently corrupting of truly sentient beings and that it was a holy duty
of the righteous to destroy it. Within half a decade, her "cult" has spread
from Kalitarn to a dozen other star systems. They have claimed responsibility
for over 1,000 terrorist acts.
There are those who believe Daya to be insane. Others hold that
she is a brilliant philospopher, but that her early life scarred her psyche.
Most of her followers believe her to be the answer to saving civilization
from eventually becoming alienated from itself by its own creations, while
some go so far as claiming she is the vessel of a great divine spirit.
Everyone, however, agrees that she is dangerous when crossed, and that
the Mechanoid Slayers will only continue to grow in power under her leadership.
Daya is 27 years old. She has dark brown hair and blue eyes.
She adorns herself in jewelry manufactured from parts of androids she has
destroyed. She has a mercurial temper and is known for sudden mood swings,
unpredictable desires, and for being virtually undefeatable in debates
and combat. She often leads sabotage and terrorist missions personally.
Her closest advisors beg her not to--she is safe on Kalitarn but they fear
she may be captured when she travels elsewhere. Daya disregards their warnings,
claiming that she must do her part to help cleanse the galaxy—she will
never just be a figurehead.
