Sample Second-type Robots

Copyright ©1994-2003 Pioneer Entertainment (USA)The majority of rank-and-file troops employed by the Martian military and most low-level security personnel maintained by corporations and private security forces are Second-type robots. The reasons for this are many, but prime among them are the fact that robotic troops can easily fight in the hostile environment of the non-terraformed portions of Mars, and robot security officers will detain even the most pitieous tresspasser or thief.

Second-type Military Robots (25 Mecha Points)

The basic unit fielded by the Martian military are Second-type robots programmed with the skills of a soldier. They have advanced artificial intelligence systems that allows them to act on their own while performing their duties, but they lack initiative and will do only the most basic of things without commands from human officers. Such officers are rarely close to the battle, instead viewing observation broadcasts from helicopters or the soldiers themselves. Soldiers are generally armed with hand-held machine guns, though they may be equipped differently if circumstances require it.

Robots are the most common type of guard used by businesses and government installations that lack a military presence. These Second-types have sufficient artificial intelligence to give them some autonomy, though not much, and they generally wander a specific area as ordained by their owner. Guard robots are programmed differently at different installations--some attempt to capture a trespasser, others to kill, some give warnings, and others do not. The biggest threat a guard robot presents is of alerting the owners of the location to a break-in. They are armoured well enough to withstand most small-arms fire and are stronger than most humans.
