Thanksgiving in Iraq

Wednesday night, the evening before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Eve if you will, the solders of TACSAT learned a valuable lesson: The natural laws of physics do not apply in Iraq. "How could this be, how did Iraq get around Newton's natural laws?" one may ask. I do not know the how, but opposite of what everyone is taught in school, sometimes what comes down must go up.

I will give insight on the events as they unfolded, here in our beloved TACSAT tent, the hallowed ground where Lopez gained victory over the Camel spider, where many a day is spent toiling over this very webpage, our temporary home away from home. Late that Wednesday night, a storm started here in Camp Babylon. I believe that it was called a microburst, but I'll never know, but it dumped more water in an hour than I've seen in a long time. Things were funny when the water was leaking alittle from the corners of the tent, things were funny when company operations was putting garbage bags on their equipment to keep the water out, things were funny when the commanders cot area had water all around it. The last of the funny things was when the guys had to throw all the electonics stuff off the floor because the water was coming up through the floorboards. We have photo's and I'm sure that you'll all appreciate them. At the time, watching everything that we built was somewhat disheartening, but we have overcome. So from us at TACSAT, we hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, we were thankful for only a foot and a half of water instead of 3.
