My name is Matt and I am an animator currently working for a major law firm in Denver, Colorado. I Don't really know if every one else would classify me as an animator. I make really boring exhibits for trial. But I make stuff in Maya and move it around, so I guess that makes me an animator. I get to head up my little department, so that keeps me happy.
I am currently a second term student at AnimationMentor.com. It is amazing how much I have learned. I wish I had the 50 grand I spent on the other "animation" school I went to. I would be driving an M5 and still be in the same position. Oh well...
I live just outside Denver in a little house with my wife Bethany. We have a menagerie of sorts. We love animals. But they are all pretty unique and every one who comes by says they're nifty. I also dabble in car collecting. (yes... real ones) I have a '69 Dodge Charger and an '83 DeLorean. I am proud to say they both run well and are maintained. I thank my parents for the charger and the good people at Wells Fargo for the DeLorean.
I know that it is a bit of a pipe dream, but I hope to work at PIXAR someday soon. I know that every animator says that at one point or another and they get a billion aps a year, but I think I can do it.... for reals.... c'mon, stop laughing!
My biggest worry is living in San Fran'. Houses are sickeningly expensive and there aren't many available. But I asked my 8-ball like 15 times if everything would work out, and it said I would be fine. So I'm not gonna sweat it. |
