This is an all too frequent Question I get asked........

My boyfriend & I have a boxer and we are interested in breeding her within the next year. She is about 1 year old now and we will probably try to breed her in about another 6 months or so.   Can you tell me how many puppies does a boxer have during her first pregnancy?  We have several people that have committed to buying one from us, but we don't want to overpromise.   Thanks in advance for your help!

Below it is a typical reply from me...

Hi , I hope that you have someone that can see you through the breeding process that your Boxer will have to experience....I think that trying to do it on your own might lead to some very serious consequences and very high vet bills......most of us that breed have some pretty harrowing tales to tell .....(I have one of my own).....there is a web page that tells of some of these experiences (They are ALL true and *can* happen to you and your Boxer) .... I am sending it to you not to try to make you change your minds, although that would be the best for your Boxer. At the very least have someone around who has been through the process a few times and knows what they are doing......

Before you breed check out.....

The Reality of Breeding Dogs, I hope you don't end up having a story to add to this web site.... Thea
So in a nutshell my advice is *don't* breed your Boxers... keep them as much loved pets and add to their life span by spaying and neutering your Boxers

Q. Should I crate my Boxer or not.

A. Teaching your dog to be happy in a crate has many advantages and few disadvantages....the Advantages to crating and the most important in my book is....

The Disadvantages are .....

Q. How often do I groom my Boxer and what kinds of things do I have to consider.

A. How often you groom your Boxer is mostly guided by what your out look is on life.....some say they should never need grooming.... Ha !!! to that, They don't have to live with what ever it was they just rolled in !.....so definitely bath them after a smelly roll and a dip in the river and even a run in the forest, check them all over thier bodies for ticks, foriegn objects and Fox tails....Show Boxers get bathed much more often and I can attest it doesn't effect them in anyway except make them smell nice, my dogs always seem to walk around with there heads swelled just like a kid with new shoes :o))

You can get a good quality shampoo from your vet or visit a dog show...wow! what a choice you will find there and someone will always take the time to tell you about any product you care to know about. There you will also find coat enhancing sprays which puts an even better shine on a healthy coat and they smell nice too.

Ears and eyes take special care.....you can wipe away eye goops with a cotton ball dipped in cooled boiled water...one cotton swab for each eye...ears the same treatment only wipe the outside of the ear *do not* push objects down into the ear canal, this is best left to a veterinarian, if you see muck down there....use your nose as a quide to the wellness of the ear...generally if it smells nasty then get thee to a vet' :o))

if you have an FAQ and you don't see it here please e-mail me .... I will try my best to answer you...
