Church：我倒是不覺得生命科學係有什麼不好：倒是植物系同學可能要緊張他們系會併入我們系，還是...分成動生組、漁生組、植物組？如果合併後變成什麼分子生物組、生理組、生態組，那植物系的課程勢必消失了。好樣我們這裡的大學，雖說是生命系，但是正式開的必修課只有普植而 w，其他植物系的專門課程我都沒有看到，也許那些大學生們有興趣的也是動物相關...

參加了七月二十二日的同學會，看到了已經為人父母的同學們、即將成家的同學們，當然，還有離首八年如一日，至今風采依舊的同學們。一些從前在魚房喝酒吟詩，在系圖閱覽室放言高談，在一號館看玻片、數果蠅的影像，又鮮活了起來。

看著在別的領域或不同工作崗位上的你們，與其說欽羨你們的表現或是一個充滿希望的未來，毋寧讚嘆著你們的勇氣。不甘蜇伏於淺淺溪流，不如奮力一躍，飛上晴空。

在大西洋岸，我曾向一群外國大孩子們解釋一隻螃蟹如何褪去它的舊殼，我看到一張張嚼著口香糖的臉，散發著驚嘆的神采。潛入超過一百一十呎深的沉船，一隻虎鯊冷靜的褐眼珠自十呎外凝視著我，鰓裂整齊劃一地開闔。我只聽到我的呼吸系統自氣瓶汲取壓縮空氣的嘶嘶聲。

在資格考試時，口試委員問的第一個問題是：
”請告訴我們，你希望別人將來怎麼界定你？(How would you like others to define you?)”
雖然事隔已久，但這個問題仍縈繞在心，久久不去。

兩年前，看到一群把生物學當成故事在講述的學者。看著他們眉飛色舞地描述植物的莢果爆裂時，種子飛散的效應堪比大型空氣槍射擊﹔或是經由簡單的實驗，發明了一種上鉤率幾乎是百分之一百的假魚餌，廠商卻因其高達五年的有效期限而不願投資生產。我看見一群在學生眼中半瘋的老?童，把大自然當成他們的遊樂場。

曾在學校裡的一間實驗室牆上貼著一張汽車貼紙，上面寫著：
If it is not fun, don't do it.

是啊，沒有樂趣，為什麼要做呢？

解決人類糧食問題，抵抗疾病的威脅，我沒有那麼高貴的情操。
保育瀕臨絕種動物，挽救脆弱的生態系，我自嘲為渺小的人類，無力與大自然抗衡。

我只想快樂地做我想做的事，過我想過的生活，和心愛的人在一起。

那就夠了。

我發覺這是一個趨勢，
改名與否並不重要，重要的事能否給台灣的動物學研究，
甚至是生物學研究帶來新的方向，
而不是一味的墨守成規。

It has been a while since someone wrote about their feelings. It's not easy to open up your mind and express what you feel (at least for me). That's why I even more appreciate what Windsor and Rabbit wrote. I am also very excite about the class re-union. lthough I am not going to be able to attend (despite being wanting to), it will be a fabulous time for all who are going to be there. That I can be sure. Pin-pin has just defended her thesis. I am sure that she must have done well and getting ready for a ew life. So is little Jen. Time really flies. It has been six years since we all come aboard. Looking back these six years, what changes have come! We now have a daughter, and I am getting across the thirty barrier. Yet I am still a student and trying to ake a living (Rabbit this one goes for you, too). However, to me this sadism only drives me to attend the society more and work harder. We can all care about the environment and ecosystem, but I think we also have a social duty to fill, that is to work, b ar children, and raise a family. Call me as too realistic or selfish, but I like to deal with what is close to me first. And that means graduate, find a job, and feed my families. That is my holy grail for this stage of my life, and I will try to do my be t to fulfill it.

心裡有很多想法, 不知道從那兒說起, 這幾年, 有好大一段時間在思考自己要往那裡走, 心中放不下繼續唸書的念頭, 可是繼續唸書下去 就會養不起老婆孩子( 雖然現在還沒有孩子), 希望 能多做一些保育的工作, 但是發現自己的能力實 在有限, 想了好久, 做研究倒底有什麼意義? 也許我 不是一個很好的研究人員, 但是在三年的海龜研究, 我發現我實在不能在保護它們上面有什麼貢獻, 其次是我不知道我的實驗有什麼意義? (也許其他同學 做的比我有意義太多了) 不在希望繼續做研究了, 覺得太多數的研究都只是要爭取經費而已, 研究科學 的意義到底在那裡? 應該不是要錢吧? 我記得是追求 真理, 可是我們真的發現真理了嗎? 停下來想一想吧! 是不是要這樣繼續下去呢? 還是可以轉個型, 做一些自己想做的事, 我知道這對大家 都很難, 生活跟著時間的大輪不斷地在轉, 工作, 結婚, 生子 可惜, 上天不卷顧我, 不讓一件接一件地做, 總要讓我多等 一等, 多想一想, 有好多好多的時間, 可以坐著喝咖啡, 發呆, 想想自己要什麼, 發現自己什麼都不要, 只要能夠 和自己所愛的人坐著海邊, 享受陽光, 聽著海潮, 和桅杆叮 叮噹噹的聲音, 就是最快樂的事了。是不是能賺很多的錢 一點意義都沒有, 再多的錢都填不滿欲望, 錢永遠都不夠用 我覺得不如減少一些欲望, 少賺一些錢, 多花一點時間在 愛你的人和你愛的人, 人生不是那麼短嗎? 總想著以後可 以有更多的時間和他們在一起, 卻不知道, 他們在不知不覺 之中消逝了 總是很高興生命充滿了這麼多變化, 這一刻是這樣, 下一刻 卻完全不一樣, 自己也不知道會到那裡去, 但也帶給身邊的 人很大的因擾, 但是世界不就是這樣嗎? 有多少人能真的控 制自己的命運呢? 總是不知不覺地被命運控制, 又何必這麼 辛苦地為人作嫁呢? 對不起, 太久沒有寫中文了, 寫出來的東西好像不知所云 希望這是一塊磚, 能引出大家的寶玉

回到台大一號館看看動一教室
動物系的招牌已經換成了戲劇學系
乍看之下覺得怪怪的

數週前，到高雄參加Handsome的高醫畢業典禮，
高雄的艷陽天和五年前陪他前往口試時沒有什麼差別，
不同的是，身邊多了兩個頑皮的小男生。
也難得有機會休三天假
到高雄去曬曬太陽
看看久違的朋友

或許
也應該停下來
想想自己究竟在忙些什麼
追求的目標到哪裡去了？

前幾週為了要搬回板橋
整理一些好久好久以前的東西
看見自己高中時候的週記
以及這一路走來的許多札記及信件
彷彿又回到舊日時光
看見一群昔日好友以及年少時候的想法

這些年過去
或許想法還在，
或許有些已經被淡忘
無法否認的是
有許多年少時代的熱情再難尋找
特別是在一個政府機關之中
縱使思想能夠自由
但在做法卻變得保守

生活變成一件平凡而規律的事
每天上班
坐在電腦前處理一些別人的事
或者抽空看一些書，
處理一些研究資料
下班了
在家陪小朋友玩
唸書給他們聽
然後聽聽老公的抱怨
放假就找機會帶小朋友出去玩
Handsome在七月後到臺大醫院復建科作住院醫生
我彷彿可以預見未來四年的生活

其實我很知足
這樣的日子雖然沒有什麼起伏
平平安安也是一種福氣
只是有時候會有一些懷念過去年少時候的意氣風發
以及對於生命的熱情
還有過去常常自問的生命意義何在
即使到今天
我們還是沒有答案
有時候會想找個機會一個人靜下來思考一下
有點難
而且，
我也不太確定如果真有時間是否就能找到答案

我申請了新班史,是國內的主機.
目前先試用,如果國外的同學覺得連不上,那我就放棄使用新班史.
會申請新班史的原因有:
1.方便管理.(因為我越來越沒時間管班史了!)
2.同學必須經過審核才能進入.(避免一些奇怪的廣告或留言)
3.寄發同學新消息比較方便.(去了就知道了)
4.我用學校撥接就能上那邊.(我的個人因素啦!$$$$$$)
如過同學能接受,那這個留言板將不再使用.(當然舊班史仍會保留著.)
我是希望首頁仍在這裡,但是班史能移到那邊,我比較方便管理.
