I submit five JPG photos. My icon is TAMILOK-01.JPG (All five photos with captions are shown below)
My icon shows a seemingly useless piece of dead wood/tree but
which provides shelter & food for Tamilok worms. The waste of the
living & the dead is food &/or shelter for another living matter.
Such is the BALANCE of nature which man must restore if not preserve.
Restore? Yes, coz industrialization and the advancement of
civilization has made necessary the mass production of foods the
side-effect of which was to tilt the BALANCE at the detriment of
society & the environment. Mass culture of chickens has produced the
Bird Flu throughout Asia. (Our country is still free from Bird Flu
that's why dressed chickens are currently exportable.) The prawn
industry of the Philippines (and of Far East Asia) has collapsed due
to the emergence of the White-Spot virus which still has no cure.
(Though white-spot kills prawns, its not harmful to humans.) Salmon
farms in Norway have a disease too!
In the wild, chickens & prawns do not live so congested to one
another. But in culture farms, the high stocking density (ie at least
50,000 prawns per hectare of fishpond) forced the species to
live & dine amidst their own waste! Almost totally seperated from
the rest of nature in isolated ponds & farms, who/what recycled
their wastes? The condition bred new strains of disease?
Many of us believe that there must be a better way to culture
en masse. One that is in BALANCE / harmony with the rest of nature
& the environment.
The series of photos I submit tells a short storyboard. They are
in chronological order:
A dead tree is both shelter & food for Tamilok worms.
Notice the bore holes by the Tamiloks.

This is how Tamiloks look like.
(TAMILOK-07.JPG)
Can man benefit from Tamiloks?
(TAMILOK-10.JPG)
Yes!!
(TAMILOK.-11.JPG)
An environment in BALANCE assures abundance of safe
foods for every species within nature's food chain.
