First SM mall in Bacolod/Negros opened
on 01 March 2007! Tis the 2nd for West Visayas...
(SM attemped a supermarket in Bacolod years before but closed it fyi..)
(Iloilo City has three SMs: Manduriao, Delgado, & Jaro.)
(Only the one in Manduriao is a large mall.)
(SM at Jaro was first attempt for Iloilo. Twas a mere supermarket.)
(SM at Delgado is a dept store. SM MALL @Manduriao opened in 1998.)
No less than founder himself was there!
... even if he's no longer as mobile.. (naka wheelchair)

Initials SM do not mean 'ShoeMart'.
Until few years back, phrase 'SM ShoeMart'
had always been used with both words together.
Coincidence that initials of 'ShoeMart'
are 'SM' too. In reality, 'SM' are initials of
of two surnames: Sy & Mendiola. Yes, Mendiola
has been the silent partner all along...
