Chapter 8

Lance climbed up the ladder, followed by Chris, then Joey. "What's up, guys?" Joey wondered as he saw three of his band mates, gazing at something. "Guys?" Without speaking, Lance raised his hand and pointed to their right. Joey followed his finger and stared at what everyone else was looking at. "Is that...JUSTIN?" Joey wondered, mouth opened.

Slowly, JC nodded. Before them was a pale stick changed to the ceiling. They walked a little closer to him, but stopped when they were three feet infront of him. JC took his pants off and put them on Justin. "He is ICE COLD!" JC exclaimed.

"Put this around him!" Joey offered, handing him a large, brown blanket.

Taking the blanket, JC quickly wrapped it around his shoulders. "Where did April say the key was?" JC asked.

"Um..." Chris said, trying to remember.

"The attic door," Lance answered. He went over to the attic door, which they had latched, and felt around. At the bottom left corner, Lance's had rubbed against something smooth and cold. "Found it!" Lance exclaimed as he picked up the metal key.

He gave it to JC. "Where's the dumb lock!?!" JC asked himself as he felt around the chain.

"Let me try," Joey offered. JC handed him the key and Joey began searching. As his hands neared the top, he didn't feel a metal loop, but a metal block. "I think I found it!" he cried. Fumbling with the key, Joey quickly stuck it in the lock and turned it.

The sound of metal filled the room as the chains slipped from the beam at the ceiling and down to the ground. With his chains released, Justin fell forward, unable to support himself on his weak legs.

What's TAKING them so LONG!?! April asked herself as she sat in her car. It had been nearly twenty minutes!

Suddenly, she heard a familiar sound. The sound of an old station wagon coming down the road. "Shoot!" April exclaimed as she started her car. She pulled around the corner just as the station wagon pulled into the driveway.

Julia stepped out of the car and into her house. "What a DAY!" she said to herself as she yawned. "I am SO ready for a snooze!"

She began to head towards her bedroom when she remembered Creature. "How much harm could he have done?" Julia wondered with a little laugh as she opened a closet door.

Before Justin hit the floor, Chris grabbed him and gently laid him down on the floor. Lance knelt over and felt for a pulse. "Is he?" Chris asked, afraid to hear the answer.

"He's alive!" Lance breathed. Everyone let out a sigh of relief. "We have to get him out of this freezer, though!"

"Let's go back to April," Joey suggested. "Chris, help me carry him!" Chris grabbed Justin's arm while Joey grabbed his legs. "On the count of three. Ready?" Chris nodded. "One...two..THREE!"

Justin was lifted into the air. They began to open the attic door when it flung open. Four men watched as a brown-haired woman starred up at them.
