4.No Title
Well, we only got forty bucks! Said Chris.
I know. Look, we dont know how long itll be before we get back to our time Said Lance, letting out a long, hopeless sigh. Or, if we ever will get back.
Course we will!
-And anyway if we buy supplies and tools instead of room and board well last longer on this forty here. Lance concluded.
Where will we live?
Out here. Said Lance holding his arms wide. here was a dug-out overhang, a sad little tree, a pitiful stream with few fish, four saguaro cacti and miles and miles of nothing but dirt, sagebrush, tumbleweeds and little animals that scared Chris.
Oh! Yeah! Now I see it! ... Uh, yes, bellboy, would you please bring my suitcases to tumbleweed two-o-four.
Oh. Youre funny Chris. SO, so funny. But please, spare me. Before I laugh myself to death. Now, our saddlebags have what in them?
Yours has cooking stuff and a knife and mine has a gun and more cooking stuff and another knife.
That gun only has like what, maybe five bullets? Hmm Thats not going to last us long at all. Okay, so we need to buy another gun and some more bullets.
Where are we gonna buy bullets? I never even knew where to get them back home. Plus the closest town is miles from here. Said Chris sitting down in the dirt. Wed have better luck making out own bullets out of dirt. God knows theres enough of that around here.
Okay, no bullets, but how about we do make stuff. You know, like Tom Hanks did in Cast Away.
No! No more depending on stupid movies!
But, Cast Away was about survival, not like Wild Wild West. And the Cast Away stuff was important, like, he made fire and he caught fish and crabs and stuff.
Lance! There are no CRABS in the DESERT! Plus, who needs fire?! You could cook a whole cow just on the heat of the ground! Plus he had coconuts. I dont see any coconuts, do you Lance? Chris yelled, getting frustrated.
Yeah but he made spears and- Lance tried.
HE ALSO TALKEDTO A VOLLEY BALL! Do you wanna do that too, Lance?!!
Lance looked as if he would cry.
Im just trying to think of ways to help us He said, and sat down.
Chris looked over at him and felt bad because he knew Lance WAS just trying to help. And was trying desperately not to let them feel hopeless.
Im sorry, Lance. I just- I tink Im going crazy here. It really sucks and Im just not thinking straight. Said Chris as he scooted closer to Lance. Lance sniffed and looked at Chris.
Dont worry, Chris. Nothing could make you crazier than you already are. He said, trying to show a smile. Chris smirked and tackled Lance.
You jerk.
