| A Small Glimpse... |
| Look at her! Wasn't she so pretty? I think she was ...still is actually. You see that pretty young blonde woman is my mother. She passed away on the 24th of August of this year (2002). This and the next couple pages are for her, so sit back and enjoy a small glimspe into her life. I say small because she wasn't a big fan of the internet and I'm going to honor that fact. *laughs* Ya know, she used to to always say computers were evil and possed by the Devil. It used to make me so mad at her then but now to look back it's actually kind of funny. It's things like that, that used to make me mad or upset, that makes me miss her now. The way she told you what she thought and called it how she saw it! To quote one of my cousins in a poem he wrote "She shot from the hip..." which she did. She used to always say "If your mom/mamaw , depending on who she was talking to, don't tell you the truth no one will." and you know what...it was true! But I guess I should stop rambling and tell you a little bit about her. She was born in Ages Kentucky in 1930. Her parents were Stella and Garfield. She had ten brothers and sisters!!! Could you even imagine having that many siblings?!?! Especially since they had to use an outhouse!! YUCK!!!! Anyways! *lol* As far as growing up from what she's told me it was normal for being in the 1930's. Sibling squables and the such you know. She didn't make it past the 6th grade (if I remember correctly) due to the fact she had to help at home, which was common back then. She met my dad when she was 15 I believe. They were married twice actually. My mom always said she stayed with him the secound time for spite!! HeHe. They lived in Harlon Kentucky where my dad worked in the coal mines and my mom worked as a substitute teacher and in a dinner. (I'm not sure if she worked anywhere alse) They had two children and adopted three. They eventually moved to were we live now. They adopted me when I was three(that makes me number three with the adoption thing lol) My mom was very strong Christian. I remember going to church with her and seeing her sing and shout with the spirit. *smiles* Even when she got sick enough that she couldn't go to church she would still sing, and clap her hands, and praise the Lord. Up until the day she passed away she was the same woman she had been for as long as I can remember. She would tell the same stories, sing the same songs, gossip the same old gossip *laughs* I only wish the world could have known her the way her family did. Hopefully this section of my webpage helps you get to know her a little.......The next page if you choose to go to it are a couple pictures of her. They all kind of tell a story about the kind of person she was.(I might even through in a couple of her "Quotes" under the pics) There is also a poem that her mother wrote and I think that she would say the same thing to her family now if she could. Hope you enjoy..... |
