"Hey, J" JC said as he walked over to his friend who was getting a drink.
"Hi JC." Justin said taking a sip out of the glass.
JC followed Justin's stare and saw he was looking at Mackenzie as she dance with someone unfamiliar to him. "The two of you have been dancing with everyone and anyone at the party, are you saving a dance for each other?" Jc asked smiling
"Nah," Justin said with a hint of jealousy when a slow song came on and the pair kept dancing, "she's probably just trying to clear her head." Justin thanked God for Britney at that moment when he saw her interrupt Kenzie and the man and walk away with her.
Britney and Mackenzie walked over to Justin and JC and smiled at them. They made idle chit chat for a while before a silence fell between the group.
"Hey guys, Hi. Brit, Hey Mackenzie, remember me?" Jeff asked Mackenzie as he made his way next to her.
Kenzie looked over at Justin for help but she didn't know who the man was, she knew she recognized him but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"I'm Jeff," he said noticing that she still didn't remember who he was, "remember from Justin's house?"
"Ya know, Kenz, Wade's friend." Justin said
"Oh that's right!" she said embarrassed, "I'm sorry, I've met a lot of people since then." she said not trying to sound rude.
"That's ok...Umm, Mackenzie, I was wondering if you wanted to...." he said smiling.
"Kenz, Come with me for a minute I have to show you something!" Justin said quickly pulling her away.
Britney smiled at his act and knew that Justin was envious of Mackenzie spending time with anyone else, especially Jeff.
"Ok, I'll see you guys later!" she said as Justin pulled her away. "What do you want to show me?" she asked when he stopped pulling her away.
"Oh, it's in my pocket." he said searching in his pocket trying to act like there was really something he needed to show her. He stuck out his hand and held loose change and a stick of gum.
Mackenzie smiled half-knowingly, "Is this what you wanted to show me?" she said taking the piece of gum and popping it in her mouth.
"Hey! That was mine!" Justin whined
"Come on what did you want to show me?" she asked again
"It's got to be in here some where! I must have forgot it." he said trying to act disappointed.
"There was nothing you wanted to show me was there?" she asked smiling.
"What? Yes, there was...I just forgot it, that's all. I'll show it to you some other time." he said putting his acting skills to the test.
"Well, what was it?" she asked still smiling.
"I can't tell you that! It will ruin the...the surprise."
"Uh-huh" she laughed
"Ok fine there was nothing! Jeez are you happy?" he admitted
"Yes, I'm very happy." she smiled and it was one of those moments where she wished she could just reach up and kiss him because that was what her heart was telling her and she wished his heart would tell him the same. But in her head, she had made a promise to herself that if he wanted to be with her, then he would make the first move and she was going to stick to that promise.
"I just wanted to talk to you that's all, " he paused as he thought whether or not he should ask her if she wanted to dance. The song that was playing was a fast one so maybe it would be safe to dance with her but still be able to hide his feelings, "umm Kenz?"
"Yeah, J?" she asked softly
"Would you like to...to," the DJ changed the song to "I Turn To You" by Christina Aguilera, "...to...umm...go for a walk?"
Mackenzie smiled, 'At least he's trying.' she thought.

After a few minutes of walking around the restaurant she was getting bored. Justin was an awesome person to be around but by now the conversation had died and there was silence between them. She looked over and saw Joey sitting by himself at a nearby table. "What's Your Fantasy" by Ludicrous blared through the speakers and an evil smile formed on Mackenzie's face. Britney's words ran through her head, "You have to make him see that he needs you. Do whatever it takes."
"Umm, Justin? Joey is just sitting over there and I promised him we'd dance again before the night was up so if you don't mind...."
"No, no of course not, go ahead!" Justin said as he watched her walk away. He watched her until they made there way to the dance floor and then turned around to see Chris standing next to him with Danielle.
"I bet you wish you were Joey right now, don't cha'?" Chris asked
"No, why would you think that?" Justin said taking a drink.
"Because Joey and Mackenzie are practically sexin' it up on the dance floor!" Chris said as he laughing and started singing the words to the song.
"Chris!" Danni yelled.
"I hadn't noticed until you said anything." Justin said looking over at them.
"We should be happy that it's Joey." Chris said trying to get a reaction from Justin.
"What are you talking about?" he asked
"Well, I mean, if Kenzie's gonna have a thing for someone I'm glad it's Joey rather than someone we didn't know. You know what I mean?" They both looked over at Joey and Mackenzie who were now on the other side of the club. They were both talking seriously and Justin almost cringed when he kissed her forehead. He loved Joey, he was one of his best friends but seeing him with Mackenzie caused his heart to jump.
"She has a thing for Joey? That's not gonna happen!" Justin said standing up a walking away.
"That went well." Chris said as he kissed Danielle.
Justin walked up to Mackenzie and Joey who were now talking in a group with a few people from Jive. He didn't know what he was doing but seeing them together and hearing that she could have a 'thing' for him made his adrenaline speed up and his heart beat faster.

"Joey, I don't know why I'm doing this. I'm setting myself up for a heart break." she said as she sighed.
He kissed her forehead and smiled down at her, "I know I'm not the most sentimental person but hear me out, you're doing this because your heart is telling you to. I've never met anyone would could follow their heart the way that you do and it's great that you can."
"It's not great because what if he doesn't feel the same way? Yeah, it's good that I can follow my heart but what if I never get to what I'm following?" she said as Joey looked at her confused.
"Ok don't get all physiological on me now." he said as they laughed, "Kenzie, do I really need to tell you that Justin feels the same way? You can see in his eyes, whenever he's around you...it just shows." he turned around and saw Justin walking toward them, "You want to know how I really know that he's into to you?" he waited until she nodded her head, "because he's coming this way. Turn around. Act natural."
