Chapter 31
The next day Mackenzie was jumping with excitement. Tonight she would begin touring with not only the world's number 1 group but the most fun group of guys she had ever met in her life. This was certainly going to be a blast. For the first real time in weeks she had forgotten about all the madness surrounding her and was able to focus fully on her music. Tonight she would be giving the performance of a lifetime. This tour could also make or break her fan base. Many Nsync fans already believed that Mackenzie and Justin were together and naturally some fans despised her for it. It didn't matter to Kenzie, though, her career was starting to pick up its perks and she definitely wouldn't trade it for the world. She and the whole Nsync crew were in Miami, Florida ready to perform. Mackenzie planned on heading out to sound check coming back to the hotel taking a nap and then getting ready for tonight. The guys refused to let Kenzie see any of their show so they could really surprise her tonight and Mackenzie was so excited she was practically beaming.
"Ready for tonight?" Jenna asked as Mackenzie sat in her dressing room.
"I've been waiting for this my whole life." Mackenzie said smiling, "I can't wait."
Just then there was a knock coming from the hall and a trendy looking woman stood with a smile on her face.
"Hello, you must be Mackenzie." she said shaking her hand, "I'm terry and I usually work for the guys but I'm your new hair/makeup artist. Hopefully, Sam will be back." Mackenzie tried to push everything with Sam aside. She was still being question about the attacks with the police.
After about an hour of styling Mackenzie was ready to go. Her hair was left down with a few pieces of curls hair strategically placed around her head. Her make up was more than she was used to considering the size of the arena. She wore what felt like five pounds of eye shadow and mascara. She changed carefully not wanting to get make-up anywhere on her simple pair of studded jeans and pink one shoulder strap top. If the circumstances were different she would have felt like a whore wearing all the make-up but she was performing and this was her costume.
There was another knock on the door and Jenna answered. "Oh, hey you." She said opening the door wider.
"I was wondering if I could talk to Mackenzie. Privately." Justin said
"Surely." Terry said as she and Jenna left the pair alone. "Only 25 minutes till show time, girl." Jenna said on her way out.
"Kenz, you look so...so-"
"Girly?" Mackenzie interrupted. "I feel girly."
"Well, yeah, you look 'girly' but I was going to say awesome." Justin said with a laugh.
"Thanks, it feels like a little much but I know it will look great from the audience."
"You're right. I...I just wanted to wish you good luck tonight and to have a great show, Girly. I know you will any way but if I didn't say anything than-"
"Justin. Thanks, I understand." Kenzie said with a laugh.
"Sorry." Justin said referring to his mumbling. This was it, he needed to make sure she had feelings for him before he left and he didn't know what to do. He was acting like a boy going through puberty with a crush on one of his teachers.
"You're staying to see the show right? And your coming  to the party JIVE is giving us. You know that, right?"
"Of course! Besides I have to see what makes those girls scream so much."
"Mackenzie, I hate to interrupt but 10 minutes till show time. We need you out here in a few minutes." Jenna said.
"Ok, Jenn. I'll be there in a minute."
"I guess  I better get going." Mackenzie said back to Justin. "This is what I have dreamed of all my life, J. I can't believe I'm going to be touring!" she said excitedly. "I have to go now. Thanks for stopping by, Justin. I'll see you after the show." she said before reaching up to hug him . She wasn't sure if she should, but for the first real time she kissed him on the cheek. Their moment was ruined when Jenna came in to get Mackenzie but neither of them could forget about the feeling they had when their lips almost touched. "I'll...I'll see...see you after the show, Zie Zie." Justin said with a laugh.
"Aww, damn girl, did I ruin a moment?" Jenna asked.
"You? Of course not! Nooo." Kenzie said with sarcasm.
Mackenzie almost passed out once she got on stage. The energy was so high there was no way she couldn't be excited. She talked to the audience, danced, and sang her heart out for a short 25 minutes. By the end of the last note she had tears in her eyes.
"Now that," JC said to Justin as he watched from backstage. "that is a girl who is only in this business because of her love for music. There aren't many people out there like that anymore. You got lucky, J."
"I'm not lucky yet." he replied.
"You still want to do it right? Everyone is ready. It's your call." Jc said.
"If I don't, I'll regret it for the rest of my life. I can just picture myself wishing I would have done this." Justin said as the pair got ready for their show.
"Ok, man. All I have to do is tell the band." JC said then walked away.
Justin changed into his stage clothes hoping that he was making the right decision.
Mackenzie sat down in the VIP booth about 20 minutes after her performance. She had showered and gotten ready so fast in fear that she would miss the beginning of their show. She sat down next to Lynn Harless, Justin's mom, and Jenna.
"I'm so glad I didn't miss it." Mackenzie said, almost out of breath.
"You got here just in time." Lynn said, "I can't believe the guys didn't let you see any of it." The screams got louder as the opening music began to play. During the concert Mackenzie almost melted every time Justin came toward her side of the stage and sang. She felt as if he was singing to her and only her throughout the concert.
By the end of the concert Mackenzie was screaming her head off along with Jenna and Lynn. "I guess we better leave now." Mackenzie said as the guys were finishing up "Bye Bye Bye".
"What are you talking about? The show's not over!" Lynn said over the music with a smile on her face.
"I thought Justin said that "Bye Bye Bye" was the last song and if we have to get back to the hotel before the mobs start to come...that's all I was thinking."
"Just watch, Kenz. The show isn't over." Lynn said smiling
Mackenzie sat back and enjoyed the rest of the song. When the music was over she figured the guys would ran back inside and that would be the end, but to her surprise they stayed onstage
