Chapter 30
Chapter 30
By the time Justin and the guys arrived at the hotel everyone was deciding where to go and what they should do.  The worse part of the whole situation was that there were still no leads as to who would do this. Martins' record had been cleared a little while ago since he was still in New York, but since the attacks happened in different locations who ever was doing this had to be on tour with them.
A few minutes after Justin arrived Mackenzie was let out of the bathroom so she could talk to him. The police had made it clear to Justin to find out who Kenzie thought would do this and he was determined to find out as well.
"Kenzie? Come walk with me." Justin said reaching for her hand.
They walked down the hall as Jeremy followed several feet behind them.
"Where are we going?" Kenzie asked
"To talk on the roof." Justin said
"Ok."
Once they arrived Justin sat her down on a folding chair that had been placed by the stairs.
"We need to talk, Mackenzie." Justine began, "We need to figure out SOMEONE who would do this to you. To us. And we can't leave until we do." Justin said firmly
"Ok." Mackenzie thought about everyone who would be touring with them and after fifteen minutes she knew she has to tell him about Sam.
"Justin," she began, "The other day...at Johnny's...the day we came to the hotel. Well I went to my room and I ...I saw Sam in there searching through my stuff. I asked her what she was looking for and she told me she had lost her brush and I believed her, so I left her in there and when I came back...well you know the rest. I'm starting to wonder if believing her was right."
"Do you really think she would? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"Because I didn't think she would do something like this and I didn't want her to be involved because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm not so sure anymore. I...I don't know what to think."
Justin stood up and hugged her close to him. "Come on, lets go tell Nick and see what he thinks. I don't want to believe that Frizz, I mean Sam, would do this but you never know."
"Jeremy, we think we might have found some one." Justin said
"So did we, Sam has been taken into custody. Her fingerprints were found all over the room."
"Oh my gosh." Mackenzie said cupping her mouth.
Justin put his arm around her shoulder to comfort her. "It's going to be ok, Sweetie. Just relax."
That night Mackenzie couldn't sleep at all tomorrow she would be leaving the guys and it could be the last time she would see them as Mackenzie Hope the Recording Artist. There was no doubt in her mind that she would see them again but if they lost this case, it just wouldn't be the same.
At about 6 am she decided to start her day by getting up and showering and by 9am she had eaten breakfast and was saying goodbye to the guys.
"We'll be thinking about you, Zie Zie." Chris said as he hugged her.
"I'll be thinking about you guys too." She said.
"We'll be waiting for your return. I wish the schedules didn't have to be this way." JC said while giving her a brotherly kiss on the cheek.
"In the great words of Arnold, I'll be back." she said trying to imitate him, "I just don't know if I'll be back and still singing." she added while hugging Lance and Joey.
"Don't even talk like that, Kenzie." Lance said.
"Mackenzie, we have to leave, we'll miss the flight." Jeremy said
"Ok, I'll see you guys." she said hugging them each one more time.
Justin held her a little longer and whispered in her ear, "I...I'll be calling you every five minutes tomorrow so be prepared. If any thing happens you can-"
"I know, I know, I'll call you, J." She said
Justin smiled. A lot of people called him J but it was just the perfect way she said it. "I'll-WE'LL miss you." Justin said giving her one last hug and then watching her walk away.
He watched until the van was out of sight and it was then that he began missing her. He missed her smile and her voice. He missed her touch and her laugh. Most of all he missed knowing that he would be there if anything happened.

The next day Mackenzie left for the courthouse feeling more nervous then she ever had in her life. Her head was spinning with all the possibilities of the day. As her van pulled up to the courthouse she froze with shock. Outside was about 50 fans on either sides of the doors holding signs of support. Some had Mr. Martin's name on it and a read X through it others were more tasteful with Mackenzie's name on it, it didn't matter what they said all that matter was that those were her fans here to see her and support her. She was almost about to call Justin just to make sure these weren't actors that he paid but she was quickly rushed inside. She made a mental note that no matter what the outcome was she'd take the time to meet all those fans no matter how long it took.
Once inside Mackenzie took a deep breath and the trial began. The long process of questioning began. The were in the courtroom for almost two hours when the judge called a short break. Mackenzie knew that it would only be a short time before the judge said the ruling.
"Ok, Order everyone. The jury has reached its decision. In the Case of Mackenzie Hope vs. Jack Martins, the Jury finds Mr. Martins guilty of harassment on the first degree and stealing profits from Mackenzie and Jive. Ms. Hope you will remain with Jive as long as your contract states and you keep singing your music. Good luck to you. This trial had ended." he said as he collected his papers and left.
"YES!" Mackenzie yelled out as she hugged her attorney. "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have to call Justin!"
She quickly dialed numbers on her cell phone..."Justin! I'm coming back!! I'm still with Jive!!!!!" she talked to him for the next fifteen minutes planning the days ahead on the tour before going outside and thanking each and every one of the fans. This was a beginning to a whole new chapter in her life and she was already looking forward to it.
