| The next morning Mackenzie woke up in a sweat. She had dreamt that she was performing when a man pulled out a gun and began shooting at her. She couldn't make out the man's face but she could see his piercing green eyes. She wasn't sure why but they reminded her of some one only she couldn't think of who. She looked around the hotel room and saw Nick sleeping on her couch. She was about to throw a pillow at him when she saw a note on the nightstand. She cautiously picked it up and read the note to herself as Nick began to wake up. 'Kenzie, I'm sorry I had to leave. Rehearsals are still continuing but I will be back early. I'll see you later. If ANYTHING happens call me! I'll be calling you soon enough though. I'll be thinking about you. -Justin' Mackenzie smiled after reading the note. She loved it when Justin thought about her. She began to get her things ready when she saw Nick sitting up. "Good morning Nick." She said smiling, "I'm going to take a shower. Order us some breakfast." she said throwing the menu at him. "Mackenzie, wait, about yesterday, the police-" "Nick, I don't want to think about that yet." she said before noticing another note. "J's been writing you love notes I see." he said as he watched her pick it up. "They aren't 'love notes', Nick." She said thinking it was just another normal not for Justin. "That's weird." she said aloud. "What is?" Nick asked "The hand writing on the envelope looks different. Hmmm...maybe Chris wrote it." She pulled the paper out and immediately noticed the blood red print. 'You think you can run...' Mackenzie read as tears or furry, frustrations, and downright horror filled her eyes. 'I'll never stop watching you, my Sweet. Never. Pretty soon your beloved Justin will be out of my way. That is a promise.' Mackenzie crumpled up the paper and stormed over to the balcony. "Kenzie? What is it?" Nick said hanging up his phone. Mackenzie threw the paper at him as she struggled to open the balcony door, crying hysterically. Nick read the note and quickly ran into the hall for Jeremy to call the police. The he ran back out to the balcony where Mackenzie was standing, still crying, "Who is doing this to me?" she asked in a barely audible voice. "Who the HELL is doing this?" She screamed through her tears. "Kenzie, don't do this. Come inside. Someone may hear you-" "If you want me so bad...then come and get me!" She yelled again to anyone who was listening. "Come and get me right now! Fucking bastard come and get me!" "Kenzie! Come on." Nick said picking her up and throwing her over his shoulders as he punched them. "Put me down!" She screamed repeatedly. Nick walked into the bathroom with her still on his shoulder. He checked around to make sure that there was no one in there and nothing sharp. He sat her down on the toilet while she still screamed. "This is for your own good." he said as he raced to the door and pulled the handle to keep it closed. "You can't do this Nick!" he heard her yell as she beat on the door, but he ignored her and focused on the people in the hall staring at him. "Jeremy, quick go get some kind of rope to tie this shut." Within five minutes he returned with a large rope. The two men tied one end to the doorknob and the other to the balcony doors. "This way the only way Mackenzie could get out is if she pules the whole wall down." Nick said as he saw the police officers coming down the hall. "Well, at this point she looks pretty close to doing that. What are we going to do?" "I don't know Jeremy. Right now, no where is safe. The security here is the highest it's ever been and STILL some one has been getting through. I don't understand." Just then his cell phone rang. "Hello?" "Nick, it's me J. What happened? Is Kenzie ok? Where is she? Let me talk to her." "Whoa, Justin calm down. Where are you?" "We are on our way to the hotel. You have to let me see her. You have to let me talk to her. What happened?" "It was a note, J. Just calm down. I'll, I'll see if I can let you talk to her. Ok? Hold on a second." Nick said as he walked over to the door and loosened the grip of the rope. "Mackenzie? Justin's on the phone he wants to talk to you." "Only if I can come out." she said stubbornly. "I'm afraid I can't let you do that. I'm going to leave the phone right here and if you want to talk to him, he's waiting." he said before shutting the door. "What are you doing?" Jeremy asked "You think she won't talk to him?" Nick smile when he heard her voice in the bathroom. "Justin?" she said weakly, "I'm ok. They locked me in the bathroom! I can't believe Nick." "I'll get him to let you out as soon as I'm done talking. I'm on my way there, ok? So don't do anything drastic until I'm there. I wish...I wish I stayed with you today." he heard her yawn on the other end of the phone, "Are you tired?" he asked "Just a little bit. I shouldn't be since I just woke up though." she said. "Go to sleep then." "Justin, I'm in the bathroom leaning against toilet. This isn't the ideal place to sleep." She said as another yawn escaped her. "Sure it is. If you sleep I will be there quicker." He said smiling. "Just take a towel and use it as a pillow." "I can't believe I am doing this." she said as she leaned her head against the towel, " I guess I should hang-" "Shhh," Justin said as he began to hum that tune again. "You will tell me the words to this song, won't you?" she asked getting more tired. "Someday but not now." Justin said before hearing her breathing relax. He knew she was asleep and it would be a good 30 minutes until he saw her. |
