Chapter 17
"Wait Justin. Don't. Just stay here and calm down. She's probably looking for us." JC said as Justin ran for the door.
"You actually think that she's going to openly tell us about this? If her hurt her in any way I will..."Justin yelled at JC
"Guys, come on." Johnny said standing up to meet them, "JC is right, you need to stay here and calm down. It's not going to help if Martins presses charges against you for assault. Just stay here. I'll go look for her. For all we know maybe nothing serious happened." Johnny said walking to the door.
"Nothing serious happened? You all just heard what was going on out there and don't tell me I could have heard wrong. He shoved her into the wall and you expect me to sit here and be ok with it?" Justin asked walking toward the door.
"We don't expect you to be ok with it, J." Johnny said, "None of us are, but you have to be rational here. She's probably confused, angry, and maybe even hurt, we need to find her and make sure she is ok in a non-demanding way. If she wants to tell us what happened she will." Johnny said as the phone rang.
Everyone stopped when they heard Mackenzie's voice through the answering machine. "Hi guys." she said quietly, "It's me, Kenz. I...uhhh just wanted to tell you all that I had to leave but I'll be seeing you in 2 days for the video shoot. I'll talk to you then. Bye."
"Wait, Kenz!" Justin yelled picking up the phone but it was too late. "Damnit!" he yelled kicking a chair.
As bad of a situation this was, the guys were almost happy that it had happened. They hadn't seen this kind of emotion out of Justin in a long time. He was allowing himself to care deeply for another girl and this was exactly what he needed.

  2 Days Later in LA
"Jenna, I'm telling you, I'm fine." Kenzie said tucking her hair behind her ears.
"You've been too quiet for the past 2 days? What's wrong? You know you can tell me anything." Jenna said.
"I know I can and if something was wrong I would tell you. Come on we have to get inside before it rains." Mackenzie said entering the studio.
"Where are you going?" Jenna asked when she noticed she was going in the wrong direction.
"I'm going to wardrobe, where else?"
"Aren't you going to go see the guys first?"
"Why?"
"Ok, now I know something is wrong. What is the matter?"
"Jenna, please." Kenzie said impatiently while entering the dressing room. "Hey, Frizz." she said when she saw Sam waiting for her.
"Hurry up and change.  I want you to try these things on and we only have 45 minutes to get you perfect for this video." she said motioning to the clothes rack.
Kenzie noticed that they were all sleeve less and panicked. If Jenna saw the bruise on her arm she would know that something was up. "Umm...Jenna can you get me some water?" she asked saying the first thing that came to her mind.
"You already have water right there, Kenz." Jenna said sitting down
"Oh, that's right. Could you do me a favor and talk to the director about my video idea?"
"What for? You talked to him yesterday." Jenna said stubbornly
"Well, maybe he changed it. Can you go look? Please?"
"Fine." Jenna said leaving the room, "I'll be back later."
"Thank god." Kenzie said when she had left.
"Why did you want her out so much?" Sam asked.
"Well...you know...she's so picky about the clothes I wear and I just wanted to pick myself." Kenzie said taking the clothes and trying them on.
It wasn't until after Mackenzie had picked an outfit that Sam noticed the bruise on her arm.
"Oh, my god, Kenz. What did you do now? This bruise isn't going to look good in the video. Let me guess you slipped in the bathroom again. I told you to put a towel down before getting out of the shower."
"Yeah, sorry about that." Mackenzie said almost in shock that she didn't know what happened.
"It's ok though, I'll just cover it up with a little make-up and you'll be fine."
"Thank you, Frizz. Do you think you could keep this between you and me? I don't want them to know..."
"Yeah, sure. I understand. Slipping in the bathroom is pretty embarrassing."
"Exactly."
About 15 minutes later there was a knock on the door and Sam grew frustrated. "I'm done! I'm done!" she yelled
"Actually you have another 5 minutes. I...uhh just wanted to talk to Kenzie, if your done."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm done." She said picking up her things and leaving the room.
"I...umm...I can't talk long. I really have to get on the set." Kenzie said nervously. She had no idea that they had overheard her conversation with Mr. Martins a few days ago but she was suddenly nervous under his stare.
"Kenz, we have a few minutes and no one will care if we are late. Is something wrong." he said looking her over to make sure she was physically ok.
"No..Noth...Nothing's wrong. Why would you think something is wrong." she said nervously.
"Well, you haven't returned my calls. Are you mad at me or something?" he asked trying to get her to budge.
"No, I'm not mad it you. I just have been really busy with everything and a few things have come up." she said disheartened to see Justin upset.
"Ok good." Justin said. He placed his hand on her arm and was honestly surprised when she jumped back. "What?" he asked
"Nothing...sorry you just scared me."
Justin knew exactly what was going on and it made him mad to see that she would lie to him. "Kenz, please. Tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing Justin. We have to get on the set." she said when she saw a tech member come to the door.
"Damnit!" Justin yelled when she shut the door.
The video shoot had been emotionally draining for Kenzie and for the guys. They had shot it in lease the 2 days and everyone was tense. Once Justin saw the bruise on her arm everything went chaotic. He demanded her to tell him what happened and refused when she made up lies.
"I don't understand why you are still lying to me about this, Mackenzie." Justin said sternly while sitting in the window seat on a plane.
"And I don't understand why you are still bugging me about this. I told you I hit it against the wall. It's practically gone." she said taking a sip of soda. She wasn't lying entirely she was just hiding some of the truth.
"If you hit you arm against a bruise would be round and full, but this one fads out and is almost striped. Kenzie..." he said taking a deep breath, "I heard you and Martins fight last week. Did he touch you?"
"What...what do you mean you heard our fight?" she asked becoming nervous.
"We were in the room behind you. We all heard. Did he touch you?"
"It was my fault...I...I...was being a bitch."
"Kenzie, did he do that to your arm." he said lightly touching her hand with his.
Mackenzie looked down at her hand and tears formed in her eyes. He was being so compassionate at that moment she knew she couldn't keep this from him any longer. "Yeah." she said quietly.
She heard Justin take a deep breath as he closed his eyes.
"Justin...I" she began
"Please, Kenz. Just don't. You better hope that I don't see that man again. Please Mackenzie, just leave him. He isn't doing anything for you."
"You make it sound like we are married, Justin." she thought about the comment ,"I guess in a way we are married. I signed a contract. I'm sorry, Justin."
"Contracts can be broken. I know that, you know that."
"Please, Justin. I can't." she said leaning her head against the window.
"If he touches you again...that's it. I don't care what the circumstances are he is gone." Justin said before closing his eyes and putting on headphones. Mackenzie knew he needed time and that it was taking a lot out of him to hold back his anger.
She was right. Justin was struggling to keep his anger with in him but he knew that it wouldn't be a good idea for him to see Mr. Martins again. Ever. Justin had known that he made that bruise but nothing could have prepared him for the feelings he felt when she said it was Mr. Martins. What he couldnt understand was why she was holding back. She could make one phone call to the police and Martins would be gone and she knew it. Why wasn't she doing it then?
