| Chapter 2 |
For the next 2 weeks JC wished he could have been too busy to think about Faith but unfortunately, he wasnt. Although he spent most of his days in the recording studio or preparing for their new tour, things werent busy enough. The smallest things would remind him of her and it was driving him crazy. JC knew nothing about Faith except for her name, this woman shouldnt be in his head. He had remembered the phone conversation that she had with someone unknown to him and smiled at the memory. He could tell by the way she had handled herself on the phone that she was strong willed and independent. There was a passion inside of her that he had to admire. It was the passion and drive that made her the way she was and it reminded JC a lot of himself and his friends. They had all worked hard to get where they were and he could tell that everyone who knew Faith respected her very much, and that comes as a result of hard work. He sat down on the plush couch that filled some space in his living room and turned on the TV. It was days like these that JC just didnt know what to do with himself. He had the whole day off and he was home alone with nothing to do. He contemplated working on some lyrics but he just didnt feel like it. He picked up the phone to dial Lances number but remembered that he was going to be in meetings all day for his new entertainment company along with Chris for his clothing line. Joey and Justin would be spending their day visiting their families. Days like these reminded JC of all the things he would be able to do if he wasnt in Nsync. Walking over to the refrigerator, he realized that he needed something to make him normal again. He looked in the refrigerator but wasnt satisfied with anything in it. Walking to the pantry he did the same thing. There is nothing. He said aloud to no one but himself. After getting a glass of water he walked over to the counter and stared at the mail that lied there. Nothing. He said sorting through it. He finally noticed a super market ad at the bottom of the pile. It didnt take him more than a minute to decide what he was going to do. Im going grocery shopping. Faith sighed as she stared at her computer screen. In one week the hospital along with the Make A Wish foundation would be throwing a party in the name of all the children at the hospital. They had done this every year and every year had to be better than the last. This year Faith promised celebrities and as of right now she had one. Sure she had gotten a hold of many other people and while they said yes all the preparations were made and set. She never thought that they would cancel out on her. I realize that this may not be the most important thing on her schedule but its the most important thing to me and if I dont get it done and get her here, Im going to have a room filled with a group of disappointed kidsoh so now whats the excuse?. You want to know what I think? I think that Ms. Los head is getting bigger than her ass. Good bye sir. She slammed the phone down on her desk. She looked up and saw one of the nurses eyeing her from the doorway. Im sorry Kathy. Its justugh. I dont think Ive ever been that rude to anyone before. This party is just causing so many problems. She leaned her head on her hand. I know, sweetie. Just be patient. Everything will work out. Mrs. Holmes smiled reassuringly. Faith took off her glasses and looked down at her watch. I better get going. She said Take care. We will see you tomorrow. Mrs. Holmes said as she left the hospital. That girl needs to slow herself down. She said to another nurse who was passing by. JC walked into the Acme sporting an old baseball hat and a pair of sunglasses. He wasnt sure if anyone was going to notice him but from the looks of it there werent many people food shopping at 11am on a Tuesday morning. He immediately walked over to the frozen food section and picked up a few microwaveable dishes and cartons of ice cream. An older women walked passed him and shook her head when she saw the items in the cart. What am I doing? I can cook! JC pushed his cart down a few other isles and picked up some basic things like milk and eggs. He was going to make himself a dinner. As he was making his way to the deli counter he saw her. She hadnt changed since the last time he saw her and for a moment he felt as if he couldnt breathe. She turned in his direction and he quickly turned to the side acting as if he was going to take some of the food on the selves in front of him. For the next 30 minutes JC followed her carefully around the store. He watched as she ordered her lunchmeat all the way to what brand of crackers she preferred. He went to the checkout counter next to hers and just watched as handled everything in a very professional manor even as the people greeted her as if they were family. He wanted to say something but the words just werent forming in his brain as he pushed the cart to his car. He looked up and was surprised to see her standing at the end of a silver car that was parked next to his. As he was shutting the door to his trunk, she was opening hers. He walked to the door slowly as he tried desperately to think of something to say. How about hi for starters? he said to himself, She probably doesnt even remember me. He slowly opened his door and looked up one last time but quickly turned his head when their eyes met for the first time that day. Id like to remind you that stalking is illegal in all fifty states. Faith said coolly as she looked up at him. WhaIMe? Umm he said looking around, Iuhh wasnt stalking you. Uh huh. Faith said with a smile on her face as she loaded the last bag into her trunk. She watched as he opened his door with an embarrassed look on his face. Oh yeah, and next time you go out, try getting a better disguise, Mr. Chasez. The hat and sunglasses dont change much. What? You knew it was me? he said walking over to her laughing form. Yes! God, I think that girl at the cash register was drooling all over my food. I swear if there is any spit anywhere I'm coming after you. JC stared at her and for a moment he noticed something different. Maybe it was the fact that he had never seen her openly laugh like she was it didnt matter that it was at him. When did you know it was me? he asked when the laughter died. Around the moment you saw me at the deli counter. She said as she laughed Damn. Why didnt you say anything? he asked Why didnt you? she said looking up at him. He immediately noticed the depth of her eyes when it clicked in his brain, Your not wearing your glasses. He stated and instead of looking away like he thought she would she continued you to stare in his eyes. Youre not being an ass. She said matter of factly before turning around and walking away. JC just stared for a moment. He honestly didnt know what to say, until he she started to leave. Faith? he called Oh wow, She said with out turning around, He does know my name! Where are you going? he said as he ran over to shut his car door. Wouldnt you like to know. She said as she continued walking. JC looked in the direction she was walking toward and smiled, Dont tell me you volunteer to help out kids at a preschool too? He said She turned around quickly and JC had to stop suddenly in order to keep from bumping into her. He found himself standing only inches away from her looking into her eyes. JC she said slowly, Dont pretend like you know me. She turned around and continued to walk toward the preschool that was across the parking lot. JC was dumbfounded. Never in his life had anyone had this affect on him before let alone a woman. He wasnt ready to admit that he might have feelings for Faith or even liked her in anyway but he definitely wanted to know more. Faiths way of living captivated him and he completely admired her just because of her line of work. She worked with children everyday and while he knew that she must have not been getting paid much, she was happy with her life. Or so he thought. What if shes a nun? JC thought to himself but laughed it off. He quickly ran to his car and put his hat and sunglasses in and ran back over to Faith. I dont want to pretend. JC said sincerely, walking up next to her. Faith shot him a look and for a minute she didnt know what he was talking about. Umm ok. She said, it was her turn to blush. JC smiled when he saw her blushing, Its about time. He thought. JC was always used to girls coming to him and giggling over the stupidest things. But Faith, she was different. It took him by surprise that he didnt have that hold over her like other girls. It challenged him in some unknown way but he took pride in making her laugh or smile at him. She wasnt like most girls and that kept him intrigued. |
