Undying Devotion Chapter 16
Erika opened her front door, and walked inside. She was greeted by the wonderful smell of lasagna cooking. It was her favorite of all the meals JC cooked for her. He walked over, and wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her forehead.
"Hey babe." he said, smiling brightly.
"Well, hi there, hot stuff!" she answered happily.
They walked to the dining room, where she saw 2 candles lit on the table, and their plates already set out. 2 glasses of wine were poured, and he pulled her chair out for her. Smiling at him, she sat down, as he pushed it back in for her, and circled around to his seat. She took a bite, and loved it.
"This is VERY good." she told JC, who smiled nervously.
"Thanks." he answered shortly.
"Is something wrong?" she asked, worried.
"Of course not, I'm great." he quickly told her, flashing a sweet smile. She felt comforted, and they finished their dinner.
When they got done, JC stood up, and softly interlocked his fingers with Erika's. She got up, and followed, as he led her down the hall. He slowly opened the door to her bedroom, and Erika gasped as she took in the scene. The dark room was softly lit
by dozens and dozens of white candles. Red and white rose petals had been scattered generously over the soft, white carpet. The air was filled with the sweet melody of "I'll Make Love To You" by Boyz II Men.
JC smiled shyly at her, "No shoes allowed."
They slid off their shoes, and stepped inside. He led her to her bed, and as she sat down, JC got down on one knee. Erika could barely breathe as she realized what was
happening. JC pulled a small velvet lined box out of his pocket, and opened it, revealing a beautiful diamond ring. As he pulled it from the box, the light from the flickering candles made it sparkle brightly.
"Erika," JC began, "I love you so much. And I can't imagine living my life without you. So will you spend it with me? Marry me, please."
