Do What Feels Right - Prologue
Funny how, in a span of a year, things can change so dramatically. I thought I would have had a normal life right now and be working, but it's a far cry from that. I never realized how extreme my life would get because of something I never even considered as an issue at least not a major one. Everything just seemed to go so quickly, I didn't even get to stop and soak in everything. I guess I should have thought about it more before it all started.

I had just graduated from college in May, and my friend, Megan, and I had planned a trip to go to New York for a month and a half before we started with our new jobs. Megan and I met our freshmen year when we were randomly picked as roommates at the dorm we lived at she was from northern California and I was a townie. It was a good thing we bonded and got along, otherwise we would have gone crazy maybe this whole thing would have never happened, but thats beside the point. Anyway - *N Sync had hit it big in the U.S. sometime during our college careers, and we both started liking the group. I was totally into JC Chasez while Megan was into Justin Timberlake. We were never overly obsessed with the group, if anything we wanted to act mature about it instead of those rabid teenyboppers, but we always followed the group in any major event.
Towards the end of our senior year, the group had made a radical change in their looks and sound. They came out with the "Pop" single, which sounded so much different from their previous album, No Strings Attached, and every guy in the group changed his looks, whether it was for the better or worse. Justin had shaved his head and practically everyone was interested in his relationship with Britney Spears. JC grew out his hair and had light brown or blonde highlights put in. His relationship with J-14 columnist, Bobbee Thomas, was on the rocks and it seemed like every fan of his hated Bobbee. Some hated her because she was dating JC, but most hated her because of her rudeness and overall bad attitude towards the fans and even JC.
Joey had a baby girl out of wedlock and shaved his facial hair. The only thing going for him was being in a movie and getting the sympathy from all the females after being hurt during a rehearsal and having Wade Robson, their chorographer, be his dance double in the "Pop" video. Lance also was in a movie, had a company going, and dyed his hair black for his movie role. Finally, there was Chris. He had just broken up with his long-time girlfriend, Dani, whom everyone had liked and wondered why the two broke up. He had said something about it on Larry King Live and seemed truly heartbroken when he spoke about it. You felt his pain when you saw it in his eyes. The only thing going for him, besides being in the group, was his clothing company, FuMan Skeeto - targeted to the teenage girl.
Before our trip to NYC, Megan and I joked around about just finding JC and cutting his hair so he could look like how he did during his No Strings Attached days. We wanted to do that and talk some sense into him about Bobbee. As a joke, we wanted to go to downtown NYC during a MTV Total Request Live (TRL) taping, make signs that said "Help us straighten out *N Sync!" and "Can you help us make *N Sync normal again?" and see if Carson Daly, host of TRL, would bring us up in the studio.
I swear on my life, we did it as a joke, and we thought we would be taken as one. Nowhere in my mind did I think we were going to actually be taken seriously. If, at all, the most we were going to get was to be on live TV for a few seconds and just make a plea to *N Sync to change their looks back to what they use to be. And then maybe laugh and say that we really didnt care what they looked like as long as they kept on making good music. Man - were we wrong. What you'll read is our crazy life and how we'll never be the same again.
