Crying On The Inside Chapter 5
Being perfect had it's advantages and it definately
had its disadvantages. When girls want to be like you
and guys want to be with you it just had to feel good.
But that wasn't always the case. The worst part was
having to live up to the standards people set for you.
Michelle lay in her bed thinking things over. She had
to project herself a certain way to people to be as
popular as she was. She loved the attention for the
most part but she was just a regular girl. She got
doors opened for her, and not just from guys being
polite but from females also. She always got offers
from students who would volunteer to write her papers
for her or do projects for her. That was just to much.
Girls always copied her style of clothing. She once
went to school one day in an outfit she made up just
to wear for fun and the next day half the girls in her
school had tried to make the same outfit. They even
copied her hair. Girls flat-ironed their hair to make
it straight like hers. It was both flattering and
annoying but she never got mad about it. Brianna and
Heather got the same amount of attention but they were
actually sometimes mean and rude to kids who weren't
even close to being popular. They even teased some of
them and the guys did the same. Things were totally
different for them from the girls. While the girls
were envied and copied the guys were praised. They
maintained good grades and were honor students.
Michelle remembered a time when she and JC decided to
study for an upcoming test but he fell asleep and
never got around to it. The next day JC got an A and
Michelle got a B. But then again he had a basketball
game that night. But Michelle never complained even
when things got to a point where it flat out annoyed
her she still kept quiet. That night they decided to
go to the skating rink and just chill for a while.
Most of the neighborhood hung out there. When she got
there the crowd was bumpin and people were having a
good time. She spotted her friends but Heather didn't
get there yet. She went and sat next to JC. She kissed
him quickly on the lips. The waitress already knew
what they wanted to eat but she waited until Heather
got there to bring it to them. When Heather got there
they ate their food while discussing the upcoming game
which was at another school. For the most part this is
what Michelle liked about her friends. They were fun
to hang around until they decided the six of them needed
to be alone.
"I'm skating. Anyone coming?" Brianna said
getting up.
Lance and Heather got up to join her.
"Yeah let's go," Heather said. Joey was a bad
skater so he never went he just watch.
"You're not going?" JC asked Michelle.
"No. Actually I've been waiting for this chance
to be alone with you. Can we go outside?" she asked
him. Joey looked at the two of them as they got up.
"Be right back," JC said smiling at Joey as he
followed her outside. They got outside and sat on the
bench by the entrance.
"So what's up?" he asked her.
"JC you know how I feel about you right?" she
said
starting off easy. JC held her hand.
"Yeah of course I do and I feel the same," he
said. She relaxed more thinking maybe he would
understand.
"Well I just wanted to talk about our
relationship and this whole sex topic", she said
getting the first part off her chest. JC's eyes lit
up.
"Yeah....," he said moving closer to her.
"Well I want-" she started to say when they heard
a bunch of commotion inside.
All of a sudden a rush of
people came out the door. They still didn't know what
was going on and then they heard Lance arguing with
some guy. Michelle heard some of the arguing and they
were arguing over Heather. The guy was trying to talk
to her while they were getting their skates. Then the
guy punched Lance and he and Joey started fighting the
guy and his friend. JC jumped in it and then a whole
bunch of people had to break it up. Heather and
Brianna grabbed Joey and Lance and brought them to
their cars. Michelle checked on JC but he was fine.
The other guys were pretty bruised up though. When
everything was over the six of them left. It wasn't
until she was on her way home that Michelle realized
what he had actually said to JC. She started her
sentence with "Well I want" and never finished. JC
would surely take that the wrong way. 'Dammit' she
thought. Now he would think that she did want to do
it. She would soon find out.
