Milian, a young Cuban-American singer,
will soon sizzle as she brings her
unique mix of urban, latin, and pop
sounds to Island Def Jam with her debut
album, (to be released in early 2001).
This talented eighteen year-old
already has a long and classically-trained
history in film,("The Wood"/
MGM); television ("Get Real "/ Fox
TV); theater ("Annie Warbucks"/Broadway);
voice over work ("Wild Thornberrys"
and "Real Monsters"/Nickelodeon) and
countless commercials. Now she turns
her attention to making music.
A singer/songwriter/performer able
to mix-it-up with her unique singing
skills of Pop and R&B music,
Milian (pronounced Mill-ion) brokered strong
interest from competitive labels
at the time of Island Def Jam's recent
signing, and has already worked with
such industry notables as Rodney
Jerkins, previous to her label contract.
She also sings the hook on Ja
Rule's track "Between Me and You,"
the first single from his new album (out
on 10/3). Milian appears in the video
with him as well.
Milian began her career at age seven
in New York, appearing in national
commercials and modeling, while still
living in her hometown of Waldorf,
Maryland. Soon after, she traveled
to the West Coast on a six-month stint
with "Annie Warbucks" as the feisty
orphan. After the tour, her family
relocated to California and her television
career bloomed. Since then, she's
been seen with Disney Channel Family
for several years as the junior
journalist on "The Movie Surfers."
Now on the cusp of a surely strong
and vibrant pop music career, Milian will
join the ranks of other young, strong,
women who write, sing and speak their
musical minds. Milian's sounds, plucked
from her debut album, will
soon-enough ignite the airwaves.
Stay tuned.
