| Mr. and Mrs. Timberlake, A man in blue scrubs said. His hair was dark in a hair net that doctors wore. Im Doctor Burns. Im afraid I have some bad news. Alyssa didnt make it. We did everything we could, but it was too late. Im sorry. Can we see her, Crystal asked with tears streaming down her cheeks like rivers. This way, Dr. Burns said turning his back. I promise we did everything we could, but the tumor just spread too far. She was too young. Justin walked holding Crystals hand and they were both crying hysterically. They turned a corner at the end of a white hallway and the doctor brought them into a small room. Alyssas small body was in the center on a table and she had a sheet that covered from the bottom of her chin all the way down and hanging off the table. She had her blue eyes closed and her lips were a shade of purple. Her little face had no color she looked so pale under the bright lights. Crystal reached down and kissed her cheek. Her face was cold. I love you baby, Crystal started before she started to cry again. There will never be anybody in this whole world that I love more then you. You were my little princess and you always will be. Mommy will see you again so dont forget me. I love you, Alyssa. Justin kissed Alyssas forehead and almost expected her to stir from a sleep, but she didnt move this time. Tears ran down form the blue eyes and dripped on the sheet covering his mere 4-year-old daughter who was now dead. You have been more then my daughter. You have been my dance partner, you have been my friend and you have been my guiding light. Now you will be my guardian angel, Justin said as he rubbed her little head like he did when he was trying to sing her to sleep. There may be more kids someday in the future and I dont want you to think they are taking your place because they could never in a million years take your place. I love you, baby girl. Daddy loves you so much. See you in my dreams, angel. Crystal and Justin kissed their daughter one more time and turned and walked out of the room and out the door to the cool spring morning. The sky was baby blue, just like the color of Alyssas eyes. On the way back home, nobody said anything, they just cried and remembered how terrible of a death it was for a 4-year-old child. Justin tried to remember the good times as he laid in bed with his wife who had cried herself to sleep finally about 20 minutes ago. Alyssa was his first child. He taught her how to care and showed him so many new things. He wanted to think of something else because to think that he would never see her running in the yard, or playing ball with the neighbors or even dressing up in her mothers clothes was too hard. He tried to think of why God wanted her back but no reason came to mind. He drifted off only to dream of the perfect place where the grass was green and the sky was baby blue and he and she could be together again. =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= And baby blue was the color of her eyes.
