| Chapter 5 |
OH MY GOD! ITS JC CHASEZ! AHHHHHHH! ITS JC! Wow, arent you popular, Chrissy joked. How does everyone know you? JC, a girl said, walking up to him with a napkin and a pen. Can I have your autograph? Chrissy looked at the girl. She couldnt have been more than eight years old. JC flashed a big smile, and took the napkin and pen and quickly scribbled his name on it. Soon, more than twenty girls were surrounding JC, shoving paper and pens in his hands. Move away, move away, Chrissy heard a deep voice say from behind her. She turned around to see a very big black man behind her. He grabbed Chrissys arm. You have to leave now, too. Whoa, Lonnie. Shes with me. Okay Jace. Sorry. Lonnie followed JC and Chrissy as they exited the restaurant. What were you doing, JC? Lonnie asked when they got to the parking lot. Are you trying to get yourself killed? Maybe I am, JC said, climbing into the front seat. Thanks, Lonnie. I think Ill be all set for now. He took off his hat and sunglasses, and threw them into the back seat where he had gotten them earlier. Chrissy noticed his smile had faded, and a different look came over his eyes. He looked mad, mean almost. Okay man, Lonnie said as he slapped JC five. If you need me, you know my number. Thanks man. JC turned to Chrissy. Sorry about that. You wanna go somewhere else and get something to eat. Chrissy looked at JC. I think we need to talk. JC sighed and started the car. There isnt much more to say, JC said as he and Chrissy walked the beach. They had just spent the last hour walking along the beach, and JC was trying to explain everything to her. He turned to her and took both her hands in his. Listen Chrissy. Im sorry I brought you into all this. I should have told you who I was in the beginning, but I didnt think there was a need to. It doesnt matter, JC. I just wish Id known before we went into that restaurant. Yeah, Im sorry about that, too. You didnt get hurt, did you? Chrissy laughed and looked into JCs eyes. No, Im fine. Well, I should get you home, JC said. Yeah, Chrissy agreed. As they turned around to walk back to the car, JC reached over and took Chrissys hand. He looked into her eyes, and she smiled as she squeezed his hand. I had fun tonight, Chrissy said as JC dropped her off back at the office. Again, I am so sorry about what happened. Dont worry about it, really. So, are you going to call me tomorrow to make an appointment, or dont you want to see me anymore? No, Ill definitely call you. Chrissy smiled. Ill be waiting. JC leaned over and gave Chrissy a hug. She was so taken aback by the gesture, it took her a minute to wrap her arms around his neck and hug him back. Night, doc. Night JC. Chrissy opened the door, and was met with a fist in the stomach. The wind was knocked out of her, and she fell to the ground. She could feel the tears in her eyes as she was met with another blow, this time to the head. Where the hell were you? Ethans voice shouted. Chrissy tried to stand up to defend herself. I was at the office. I had to work late. Ethan struck her in the side, and she fell back against the door. Dont lie to me, bitch. Where were you? At the office. I told you that. Bullshit, he cried, slamming her head against the wooden doorframe. I called the office. Your secretary said you leftwith another man! He was a patient. We went out to talk. You little whore Ethan slammed Chrissys head through the glass window. She raised her hands to her face to protect herself from the shattering glass. You will pay! He then took her, and threw her across the room like a rag doll. He limp body fell on the floor. Ethan stormed out the door, and seconds later, his car could be heard, speeding down the road. |
