ARTICLE VIII � PETITION

Section 1.0 The Petition
1.1 The Student Body has the right to petition the Student Government Association of Northwestern State University.
1.2 The Student Senate, any SGA executive, any court, any department, or any branch of the SGA shall not invalidate or revoke a properly submitted petition.
1.3 A properly submitted or valid petition must contain the following:
1.3.1 The name of the student in legible print.
1.3.2 The signature of the student.
1.3.3 The Social Security Number of the student.
1.3.4 The date signed by the student.
1.3.5 A statement on each page of the petition stating its purpose.
1.3.6 At least ten percent of the total enrollment of those students which have paid Student Association Fees.
1.4 The Student Body shall have the right to submit, collect, and circulate as many copies of a petition as it feels necessary to attain the required amount of signatures.
1.5 Sixty-five days may be allowed for any valid petition from the date of the first signature until the last.
1.6 A valid petition must be acted upon by the President.
1.7 When a petition mandates a Student Body election the following results will be necessary:
1.7.1 A recall election will require two-thirds of votes cast to be in favor of removing an official from his or her office in order to remove said individual.
1.7.2 Any other type of election not mentioned herein will require a simple majority of all votes cast.
