Article XI � Senate Rules

Section 1.0 � Duties
1.1 Parliamentary procedure is to be used in accordance with Robert�s Rules of Order.
1.2 Attendance at all SGA Senate and Department meetings is mandatory. Following the day of absence, a written excuse must be turned into the SGA Vice-President within forty-eight hours.
1.3 All Senators are required to serve in at least two Departments and on three Committees, unless they are Commissioners of a Department.
1.4 All legislation must be turned into the Speaker of the Senate by noon of the Friday prior to each Senate meeting.

Section 2.0 � Meetings
2.1 All Senate meetings will be open.
2.2 Senate meetings will be held at 7:00PM, on Monday evenings and Departmental and Committee meetings will be held on set dates requested by the members of each Department or Committee. Department meetings are to be held at a minimum of one meeting every other week. Committee meetings are to be held at least once a month.
2.3 During official SGA meetings, smoking and eating of any sort is prohibited.

Section 3.0 � Senator Responsibilities
3.1 All Senators must complete three office hours a week, excluding the time spent at official Senate meetings. Any work done for the SGA outside of the meeting, including committee meetings can be counted for office hours. For the office hours to be counted, a Senator must log the hours within the week it was done.
3.2 All Senators must complete two bills of legislation that have gone before the Senate per semester, or he or she will be removed from office.
3.3 If any Senator misses two meetings in a semester without an approved excuse given to the Vice-President, he or she will be removed from office.
3.4 If a Senator fails to complete his or her office hours for two consecutive weeks, he or she will receive an administrative evaluation. If a Senator fails to complete his or her office hours for two weeks after receiving an administrative evaluation, he or she will be removed from office.
3.5 It is mandatory for all Senators who are eligible to work in an election to do so. Senators must complete a total of 1 hour of service for each day of the election. An eligible Senator is explained in Article V of the by-laws.
