People say to me all the time,
"WOW!, How did you get such a good deal on these???!!"
The answer is, "Ya gotta know where to look."
Here are some resources in Michigan for really great craft supply & bulk prize shopping.  All of these stores are a hike but worth the drive.  If your passing through the area it pays to stop in and check out what is available.
The Scrapbox
581 State Circle
Ann Arbor, Mi. 48108
734-994-0012
734-994-4420

I-94 West to Exit 177 State Street.  Turn Left onto State Street to first street on the right which is State Circle.  Turn right and it is the 4th building on the Left.

Memberships are $18.00 and are optional.

The Scrapbox has a relationship with all diffrent kinds of industrys around southeastern Michigan.  They recieve cast off's from them to resell as craft supplies. You never know what you'll find there and the best rule is if you see it grab it! It won't be there next time you come.

They have 2 ways to shop.  In the "green room" it is standard fee for item shopping.  But in the bulk area you fill up a bag with what ever you find for 1 price.

Store has a rich library of ideas for projects.

Members have access to:
Die Cutter
Binder
Idea Books
Other supplies.

They do field trips & teach classes.

Bags are $2.50 & $4.50 for non-members.  Members get a discount.

Many unusual finds and extrordinary great deals on grocery, general merchandise & furniture.  Will negotiate better prices for Scouts, Service Groups, & give case discounts if you buy in bulk.  You gotta see it to really know what it is like.  Worth the drive if you need prizes for an event, or gifts in bulk.  Cool!

Better than average deals on every kind of craft supply!  Pay special attention to the bulk & clearance areas.  Worth the drive if you have alot to buy for a large project.  Save at least 40% off of regular prices.  Tax exempt card available.
P.R.C.
Professional Resource Center
11501 Beach Daly
Taylor, Mi.  48180
313-946-5252

Telegraph road to Breast Rd.  (this is between Northline & Goddard roads)  turn West.  (on the same side as "Panda Resturant") and go to Beach Daly Rd.  Turn right.  Turn into the first driveway on right (this is unmarked, but takes you into Truman High School parking lot)  Turn left and go to the BLUE BUILDING on the left.  There are no signs outside but rest assured this is the place.)

When you get inside, you'll find a HUGE cirriculum lab.  If you bring your own paper, you can make die cuts all day for free!  They also sell paper if you wish.  They have laminating for .35 cents a foot (wow!) and they have copies for .05 cents.
Great place for scrapbooking!  Just tell them you are from Girl Scouts and the school you are at.  They will recognise you as a school sponsored organization.

Because this is sponsored by Wayne County RESA and everything is at cost, they do not encourage any non-school related uses of the lab.  Check with the technician if you have questions.  (Nancy Smith)
Mary Maxim
2001 Holland Ave.
Port Huron, Mi. 48061
1-810-987-2000

Take I-94 East until the freeway ends. (mile marker 275 ) as the freeway converts to a city street you will be on Pine Grove headed north.  Continue about 1 mile to Holland Ave. Turn Right.  Mary Maxim is 500 feet on Left.

Store is a great resource for craft supplies, especially needlework, but they have everything!  They are generally a mail order facility but have a manufacturer's outlet store in the back.  Check out the clearance room for the best deals year round.  However, if  you have the opportunity to visit in late August, they have an annual Tent Sale that is worth the drive!    (this year, 2002,  it was Aug. 15 - Sept 2)  Call to check the current dates with them.

Party Max
21572 Ecorse Road
Taylor, Mi. 48180
313-382-5596

Great party supplies at great savings.  Lots of selection for any theme you are working on.  I keep this one in my back pocket for hard to find themed party items.  But it does not have the same "eye poping" draw that the other stores listed here have.  It's cool though!  I just consider it 'hit or miss'
