Proposed Newington After School Program
The Newington School Supporters are supportive of the efforts of the
Newington School Board, The Newington Public School and many volunteers to
start an after school enrichment program. This program would be
self-supported through fees paid by participating families.

After School Program Information
- Program would be funded by parent fees and would be exclusive of the school budget. Parent
fees would be approximately the same or less than the fees parents pay to the YMCA.
- Currently parents pay $15-$17 per day for the YMCA after school program plus an additional
$10 per week for transportation.
- An after school program would co-exist in the school with other after school activites such as music
lessons and language lessons. The school custodian works into the early evening. Use of heat, lights and
other utilities would incur only minor additional increases.
- A program in Newington would follow the same school calendar as the
Newington Public School. Already NPS and parents have been caught by surprise
when the YMCA bus did not arrive to pick up the students. While Newington and
SAU 50 had school that day, SAU 52 in Portsmouth did not due to their Teacher
Workshop Day. A local program would follow the local school calendar.
