THE GIRLS Hattie is proud to be an African American. Hattie is confident and has a quick wit. Hattie is interested in politics and is President of her class. Hatti says girls are smarter than boys "Cause silly ole' boys like sports better than books." Hatti's grandmother is a retired teacher and a great influence in her life. Martita is Hispanic and bilingual. Though Martita is shy and naïve, she is bright adn believes that being a good homemaker and mother is as important as being President of the United States. "After all," she says, "how would Presidents learn to lead if they didn't have a mother?" One cannot fight her logic. Martita supports and helps Mario learn Spanish. Charlotte is Caucasian. Charlotte is civic minded and a self starter in fundraising for school and community events. Last month the NSPTM Elementary school children raised $123.14 from a Bake and Garage Sale for a school trip to the Big City to compete in the SCIENCE FAIR. Dakota is American Indian. Dakota is an early environmentalist and animal lover. Dakota divides her spare time with Miss Joy, the Horticulturist and Doc, the Veterinarian. If anyone in town finds a stray animal, Dakota is the one to call. Dakota's family own several acres on the edge of town where they groom and board horses. Dakota has a menagerie of animals as family pets. |
