| In early 1992, my family and I moved in to a middle-class, four bedroom home in the town of Moorpark, California. Upon arriving at the house on the day we moved in, I was drawn to the bedroom at the end of the hall. I told my mother this room would be mine. That night, I experienced what any ten year old would in a new house; I was scared to death. My imagination continued playing tricks on me in the succeeding months; strange noises in the middle of the night, mysterious voices whenever I was alone, etc. However, at this point I did not know I was only one of a handful of people who were having these same experiences in the house. Within the next ten years, the strange occurences would escalate in to full blown terror. I would awaken in the morning, sometimes at night, with mysterious scratches on my body. I did not attribute this to anything paranormal until I began to awaken with teeth marks on my legs and arms. It would have been near impossible for anyone to have done this to me in my sleep, seeing as how my bedroom door came with a lock to which only I had the key. Other stories began to emerge, from my two brothers and a multitude of our friends and past girlfriends who also had experiences in the house. Tales of doors slamming open and shut repeatedly throughout the night, mysterious unseen hands that were chilled to the touch, cold spots, and even a strange white apparition that moved from one wall in the hallway to the other. There was no doubt that something strange was going on at this small home in Moorpark, California. On the evening of January 12, 2003, we (the NSPP) conducted a low level investigation in to the phenomena that had been manifesting in the home. Seeing as how I my self am the founder and head of NSPP, such an investigation was conducted with tremendous ease. Photographs were taken of the so-called "hotspots" and amazingly, some of the images in fact had something to show. That night was also besieged by forceful Santa Ana winds, travelling up to 60 to 75mph. A large tree in an adjoining yard had come crashing on to the property. Photographs were taken of this tree for insurance purposes, but the images seemed to capture the phenomena known as "orbs." Whether these are in fact related to the ghostly occurences or not is open to debate, but it seems appropriate to include regardless. Subsequent inquiries as to the nature of the phenomena have revelead that a large portion of the town of Moorpark, including the area on which the house in question stands, are built over sacred Indian grounds. This has recently been a useful piece of information upon discovering that many houses in the area as well as all over town experience similar phenomena. For now, the investigation is still ongoing as to what exactly might be manifesting itself within the walls of this home. |
