Beginnings
In 1964, a group of 30 ladies started a society at Morgan State College (now Morgan State University). It was not until February 9, 1965, that they were recognized as what is now the ONLY national drill sorority, The National Society of Pershing Angels. In doing so, these outstanding women became a part of CAPERS (Coed Affiliates of Pershing Rifles), organized at the University of Oklahoma in 1962 by the Kaydettes.
Historical Growth
Pershing Angels functioned as a local entity until expanding to encompass other drill teams and Pershing Rifles Auxiliary groups at Company C-16, Florida A&M University, Company C-15, Norfolk State College (presently Co. R-4-5, Norfolk State University), Hampton (Institute) University, and Howard University.
Although CAPERS disbanded in the mid 1980's, Pershing Angels is still standing strong.

To date, Pershing Angels & CAPERS have collectively touched the ladies of more than 40 colleges and universities.
