| In the United States, the impact of HIV and AIDS in the African American community has been devastating. Representing only an estimated 12% of the total U.S. population, African Americans make up almost 38% of all AIDS cases reported in this country. Also, in 2000, almost two-thirds (63%) of all women reported with AIDS were African American. Because of these shocking realties, the National Society of Pershing Angels is currently promoting AIDS awareness in African American communities across the nation. As part of our efforts to increase awareness, Pershing Angels will host a Black History Extravaganza on February 21, 2003. The theme: "Past, Present, and Beyond"; will showcase African American dance, music, poetry, storytelling, historical events, and of course facts and information on AIDS prevention. Proceeds for the night will be used to fund many service projects aimed at educating our families and youth on the real threat that AIDS poses in our community. If you wish to participate, or would like more information please do not hestitate to CONTACT US. We will appreciate it if you respond before Tuesday, January 28, 2003. The National Society of Pershing Angels would like to thank you in advance for helping us serve our community and student body. |

| A strong mind. A strong body. And a safe, supportive place to grow. These are things that every child needs - and deserves - to have. By creating, finding and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well being of children, Ronald McDonald House Charities is working to better the lives of children and their families around the world. Twice a month NSPA C-16 cooks and donates dinner and food to our local Ronald McDonald House. We sincerely urge more people and organizations to look into helping out their local RMH. Please click HERE to be directed to the Ronald McDonald House website. Any effort that you can give will be much appreciated. |
