Ranchos Time Trial

Course: A 10 mile course over flat, but bumpy farm roads.

Course Description: The start is on Avenue 12 heading east until the ninety degree right turn onto Road 38. The bumpy roads begin here. Watch out for potholes! Continue for a mile or two and turn right again back to the west on Avenue 10. This is the longest stretch of road on the course. Turn left on Road 40 1/2, then left of Avenue 9. Make a final right turn onto Road 36 and the finish. There is one small roller about one mile from the finish.

Distances: 10 miles for everybody.

Road Surface: Did I mention that the roads are bumpy?

Gearing: Flat time trial gears.

Facilities: Portable rest rooms are at the registration area, along with a number of stores and fast food outlets.

Weather: Should be pleasant, watch for a north wind to pick up as the day goes on.

Feeding: N/A

Rules Specific to this race: Standard time trial rules. No drafting. For the Senior 1/2/Pro and Women 1/2/3 the stage race is on time so remember that if you get a flat you will receive the last place riders time. While this isn't very good it will most certainly be better than the time you will receive after riding the last five miles on a flat front tire!

Race Advice: Get a good warm up. I've found that bringing a stationary trainer I can get a much better warm up. Mainly because I just sit there on my rollers and warm up instead of stopping to talk to every person I see and wasting time. Also, if it is cold out you will actually warm up faster on a trainer than by riding around.

Watch for those pot holes! There is nothing worse than getting a flat in a time trial.
