Road Safety Program
road sign Logging roads are designed and built to get heavy equipment into the bush and to get logs out.  These roads are not paved and in some places they are not wide enough for two vehicles to pass one another.  Dangerous obstacles such as deep water, boulders, spilled logs or wildlife can crop up without warning.  A fully loaded log truck moving at 50 to 65 km per hour is not able to stop on a dime.

Although it is generally understood that all other vehicles will give them the right of way, it is essential that anyone travelling on these roads is made aware that logging operations are in the area and therefore may encounter logging trucks on the roads.
During several times each year, there is additional use of logging roads.  These roads are shared with many groups, such as hunters and fisherman on ATV's or snowmobiles.  Please contact local clubs in the area you are operating for any possible conflicts and over the next few months be sure to watch out for ATV traffic.

It is recommended that logging companies post a sign at the beginning of each road system stating that there is active logging in the area.  A few examples are below:

We are in the process of establishing a Road Safety Program.  Additional topics will be continually added as time permits.  If there is a specific topic you would like included, please contact us.
