October Newsletter 2003

The September meeting was held in the library at 6:30 p.m. Quite a few ideas were introduced and some decisions were made. We will have a "make your teacher kiss a pig" contest. This will be held the last week of October and  the first week in November. The PTO will run the concession stand for the home basketball games. Teachers will be asking for your help when the time comes. We hope to get as wonderful a response as we did for the Family Fun Day.

Thank you to all the parents and teachers that were able to volunteer their time to come out and run the inflatable at the Fun Day, September 13. I hope you all enjoyed yourself, and we look forward to working with you again.

We are also going to have the Santa's workshop again this year. Daytime help will be needed to run the store, as well as set-up and clean up. The date of this event will be determined at a later date.

Mrs. Gillum and Mrs. Gray split $50 for the most parents in attendance winners. The teacher must be present for this gift. The money is to be spent on the classroom. It's a wonderful opportunity for both the teacher and the parents to help out students. This will continue at every PTO meeting. Volunteering for other events will also count towards parent attendance.

Mrs. Jackson won the door prize. The prize was a North Stewart Elementary T-shirt.

Meetings will now be held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 in the library. However, in October the third Thursday of the month falls on a day off for the kids. So, we will have it on October 9th. This will be a great time to go into more detailed planning for the Workshop, pig kissing and also basketball games.

Thanks again for pitching in to help out the students. We have a great number of things in the works for this year. We hope to accomplish as much as we can.

Mark your calendar:

October 9th- 6:30 p.m. PTO meeting in the Library.
