the SnakPit
It all started way back in the day...

The history of the SnakPit is a long, complicated journey, involving many people, many online games, and many many hours spent with some of the greatest friends one could ask for. The year was 1998, the place (for me) was Moncton, New Brunswick Canada. I recieved a Demo disk in a magazine I had purchased, and on this CD was a great little game called Red Barron II. I plugged it in and began to play. I soon found myself emersed in a community of WWI pilots, varrying from young snot nosed punks, to some rather old esentric lads who took flying online as a serious venture which they actively perticipated in regularly. I soon found myself flying for a squad called RAC. A tight nit group, with rank structure and a rather large pilot base. Although things in that squad soon went sour, I did not let it get me down, So.. With a little luck, and a few great buddies whom I met whilst in the RAC, we soon formed a squad of our own. The NSE was founded by, from what I can remember 4 people. Kamikazee (me), Vondug, Darksider, and Snowman. The name NSE, or Nuclear Snake Eaters was derived from something to do with the Nuclear weapons disarming facility in which Vondug, and Snow worked at. The name has been with us from the start, and will always be a part of my online existance.
And so, The NSE trudged its way through the onslaught of airial combat sims, ground fighting FPS's, and anything else we could get our hands on as a group. The NSE had a brother squad back in the day, and they called themselves the BOA, Brothers of Armageddon. Im proud to say I was around to witness the birth of this fine squad, and am even prouder to say that I fly with these fine men and women today, not as a brother squad, but as a Brother in Arms myself. Whether it was Nascar, Rainbow six, Red Barron II or any of the other sims we experienced, one thing was for sure, the NSE was in its prime, a top notch force to be reconed with, but as anything in this world, (and even more so in the online world) things come to an end, if not a total end, then at least an end of sort which group gaming has silenced, where freindships stayed alive.
As gaming on the homefront calmed down for myself, (Kami) other groups, the BOA in perticular thrived on. After taking almost a 2 year hiatus from the online world, I came back to rekindle my online gaming love, and reunite the brotherhoods as best I could. Finding my old squadmates proved more taxing than I thought, and to my despair, the NSE had all but disbanded, with a few lonewolfs running here or there, gaming in various areanas. Although disbanded, I was happy to see some of the more loyal brothers still wore the NSE tag proudly, but had moved on from squad warfare to more medial things, other venues, other walks of life. It was time for me to start anew, and the direction I took, could not have fit me better than a custom italian suit. The BOA whom were flyin in Hyperlobby, had invited me to come fly with them in the IL2 Areana. IL2 Sturmovik was a game I had played offline since the day it came out, but had never thought much about playing it online. BIG MISTAKE!!!. Online IL2 has been for me a life changing experience, with some of the best flight modeling out for any PC game, IL2 gave me the vehicle to re'enter the Online gaming community. The BOA for me is now where I belong, with such awsome squadmates as we have in this group, I feel like my online experience has come full circle. Gaming is Gooood! Life is Goood!
For myself, the SnakPit is a place where I can share these experiences with all of you who visit here, and pay tribute to the fine men and women whom Ive served with in the past and all those who I serve with now~! November 1st - 2004 Kamikazee
