Zan was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, many, many decades ago. He then moved to Los Angeles and had a long career as a commercial real estate appraiser.
Zan was awarded the NSA Chapter Leader of the Year in 2006. He has attended six national conferences. He is thrilled that Laura San Martin has recently agreed to become co-chapter leader.
Zan has two grown boys and four grandkids. He is an aging jock, very active in tennis, swimming, and biking. Aside from being a C-SPAN junkie, Zan volunteers one afternoon a week at a home for the aging and is a committe member of the local Tarzana Neighborhood Council.
