| This 1971 Cutlass S was a learning experience to say the least. I bought it in running condition. When I started to restore it I found the frame had been repaired using window screen and bondo. I bought a southern frame and started to strip the car down. The quarters had been replaced likely by the same bodyman who did the frame. The welds where done by torch and the seams had been hammered in to take enough bondo to cover the crappy welds. The car needed new quarters, floors and the already purchased frame. I decided to cut my losses, the frame was sold to go under a 1971 Chevelle, the front clip went to a guy who tried to move a mail box with his front bumper, I sold the dash and much of the interior, the disc setup went elsewhere and the massive set of rims ended up under a buddy's S-10. All in all I think I broke even cost wise and learned a whole lot. The 68 in the background was one odd car. I bought it for parts for my 68 Convertible. The car had no ownership and no emblems, it had a 350 with a 3speed standard and 12 bolt chev posi. It had a factory rear sway bar. (which will find it's way under my conv.) It was dark green with a dark green interior. |
