CEA, France
Project: Modelling the alteration layer (PRI)
composition of French nuclear waste glasses using HYTEC code.
Goal and Key Responsibility: Nuclear waste
disposal is a challenging task in worldwide and usage of glass material for
this purpose is a recent and advance technology in this field. The main goal is
to model the alteration layer (PRI) composition, caused by the alteration of
nuclear waste glasses in contact with pure water and groundwater, at various pH
and temperature using HYTEC code. Model calibration and validation were
conducted by experimental data produced by numerous experiments with simple
glasses (similar stoichiometry like SON68) in pure water and synthetic
groundwater at various pH and temperature in the laboratory. Finally, GRAAL
database was created to model the glass alteration process.
